Brutal Front Page News

In the morning when glancing at the front page of the local newspaper how often are you surprised or angered by something that happened eariler? Post the headlines that make you question how crazy people are. From the front page of Buffalo News 11/28/12:

"Who'd brutally beat a 96-year old?

"2 year old girl shot in face in car outside Falls grocery"

America, were paws the kitty stuck on a power line/twinkies going out of business is more important than other chaos going on in the world. The news is not news, it's entertainment. That's it

And as for your headlines...there's nothing you or I can realistically do, soo...

Neither is as bad as the dumbass drunk broad who killed a 3 year old and his mom completely destroying the car. Too many ****ing drunk idiots in this state, and what really gets me is she's another* repeat offender. Hope that bitch gets what's coming to her

Maybe not front page worthy but here are a couple of girls who peed in some cupcake batter, baked the cupcakes and handed them out to kids they didn't like.

This was on Philly.com's front page the other day. Outrageous they would place a Sesame Place ad on the same page as a naked woman. What message are they trying to send to kids?

Sadly, I think most newspaper's are going to end up like the dodo bird and the passenger pigeon. The Syracuse Post-Standard, which is a pretty decent paper, is cutting back production to 3 or 4 days a week, but online versions will be available every day. It makes business sense, but just another way technology is changing society. Newspapers did that to town criers before this. I don't like reading the news online. I like to actually hold the paper in my hands and read it.

As for the brutal front page news, it is what sells papers. Sex and violence.

The paper in my town is horrendous, they continue to ignore problems that would make the town seem "less desirable." ie. drugs and violence. Too many people ignoring it now and it will become a much bigger problem. I think the tourism board must edit the paper, because everything seems so rosy, when it is not.

I liked this headline on the NY Daily News website yesterday:

"No one reported shot, stabbed or slashed in New York City on Monday, police sources say"

yeah, I hear some papers are trying to get online people to pay, but that will never happen. I do like reading the paper because you can see **** you'd never bother to google, but other than that it's a sign of the times.
