I'm curious. What do you guys consider more courageous?

A sniper who sits, hides, and waits in his perch for his "enemy" to appear, and then blasts them away from afar.

Or

While using nothing but a couple of box cutter's, a couple of guys hijack an airplane with hundreds of people on it, and then fly it directly into a building killing thousands of "enemies" and themselves.

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (AP) — Decorated Iraq war veteran Chris Kyle, a former Navy SEAL and "American Sniper" author, was shot and killed at a Central Texas gun range on Saturday. Here's the legacy he leaves behind:
NAVY RECORD
Kyle enlisted in the Navy in February 1999 and was discharged on November 2009, military records show. During that time, he served four tours in Iraq received 14 different awards and decorations, including two Silver Stars, five Bronze Stars with Valor, and two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
"I didn't do it for the money or the awards. I did it because I felt like it was something that needed to be done and it was honorable. I loved the guys," Kyle told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 2012.
___
NICKNAMED 'THE DEVIL'
Kyle wrote a best-selling book published in January 2012 detailing his 150-plus kills of Iraqi insurgents from 1999 to 2009. Kyle said in the book that insurgents had put a $20,000 bounty on his head. The website for his security training company said the Iraqis feared him so much they nicknamed him al-Shaitan, or "The Devil." Kyle's kills range from 200yrds to 1.2miles, with several kills well into enemy territory.
___
LOSS OF A HERO
Kyle's nonprofit, FITCO Cares, provides at-home fitness equipment for emotionally and physically wounded veterans. On Sunday, the organization's website read, "The Loss of a Hero," and said the foundation "will always carry the torch" for the military men and women.
___
FAMILY MAN
Left behind 2 small children

a little more info on him. On many occasions he snuck many miles into enemy territory and waited for days to get certain kills.

Most of his kills were from less than 125 meters, if I recall (read the book and was surprised how short of a distance he was working from).

Most dummies throwing shade at snipers have no idea what they do. In a general case, it's a 2 man operation. They're out alone in Indian country, outgunned and outmanned. They don't wave a magic wand to get in position, either. They go out alone, in enemy territory, and are sitting ducks if found. Very difficult, very badass.

In Kylie's case, he made his way around hostile cities, set up shop, and dodged RPGs shot at the buildings he was sniping from.

The guys work post war is what made him a hero in my book. Sure, during the war he saved countless soldiers lives while taking those of the enemy, but his work back home was more impressive.

Snipers cowards? Hardly. How many of you clowns would go out with a rifle, pistol, and maybe an m4, and chance being caught while outnumbered? That's what I thought.

He got Pat Tillmaned, imo.

He was going to start advocating for gun rights and putting armed guards in schools. This was going to seriously screw up the anti gun agenda our government has going on.

And all you left wing loonies saying this is karma. Your hero Obama is a warmonger, but I bet you wouldn't say that if he died.

i don't think it's a very big conspiracy. This also gives them ammo for more gun laws and take guns out of veterans hands because they can label them mentally ill. Another scam to fool the American people into thinking the government needs to keep them safe. Even though thee jackoffs couldn't get to the Gulf Coast for hurricane katrina within 48 hours.

If the government cared about keeping us safe cigarettes wouldn't be legal.

They care about violating our rights, not keeping us safe.

I've never heard of the guy before, maybe the FBI had thousands of pages on him like they did with John Lennon I don't know.

vets have had the best training w/ weapons, it doesnt make sense to try to take their guns away. but dont war vets have a higher likelyhood for mental illness? should we ignore this b/c they are vets?

Great post, and this thread should be locked before the usual hippies try to slap you with their sandals, man.

That would be a valid point if you guys weren't yelling "Karma!" with negative connotations.

On second thought, I'll take back my post. I did not take into consideration what other posters have said, and I was not well informed to pass judgement. I also realized that he did in fact shoot legit bad guys, people who would have gone on killing innocent people if they were not stopped by people such as Kyle here. So he saved lives for a living. And he did it all for his country, not for himself. Plus his taking the time to help those with mental disabilities is admirable (even though I would have seriously question the effectiveness of taking them to the shooting range, even before his murder).
