back pain

Anyone got any good fixes for a tight back? I was doing yard work Friday, stepped of the curb and my lower right got so tight that I could hardly walk. I had to use my weed eater as a cane to get back in the house. I’ve been feeding myself Advil, soaking in a hot tub, lathering in bengay and taking it easy and I can at least sit and stand with no problem now but it’s still tight as ****. I'm not good with this stuff, I'm used to the "walking it off" method but it's not working, it hurts to wipe my ass for God sakes.

Tell your husband to give you the night off, only so much pounding a man can take.

depends which part you have hurt but when i bulged lower discs the only thing i could do was lay on my stomach and push my upper body backwards thus arching my back.If it hurts too much though stop cos it could aggravate your injury. If it lingers for a while core strength exercises are the way to go to but i had to see a physiotherapist for a while

I used to have a bad lower back throughout high school from hockey, but at the same time I would work out regularly without doing any back strengthening exercises. So basically my coach got me on a LOT of back strengthening exercises and since then I haven't had any problems with my back.

It used to be really bad... maybe once a month it would give out and I'd be unable to do anything for the next couple of days.

Yeah, I hate to give one of our resident trolls some fodder, but...

...I found yoga really helped me. I have a herniated disc in my back, that slips out around this time of the year, every year. Go from a downward dog, slide into a cobra pose (you can look these up on google images), and then just hold that pose. As you slide, you can here these little "popping" or "crackling" sounds coming from your back.

That's part of my pre-squash routine for almost two years now, and I swear by it. Works wonders.

Yoga is actually really good. I know I've sh*t talked it but the science speaks for itself. I'm starting soon myself.

TENS, E Stim. Natural, no side effects and can use as needed. Mostly covered by insurance unless you are on Medicaid, which would not surprise me.

I feel your pain. I've been going through spinal decompression for the last 2 months. That is when they strap you into a rack and stretch the compressed discs. I am feeling much better but I fear I will be stuck with some lingering pain for awhile. I do believe in chiropractors after this experience.

Yoga is good, like FBC said.

I have sciatica pain. In the mornings I couldn't walk it got so bad. Chiro has helped me immensely, but I also stretch before work and at night. Just stretching my back and legs. It could help.

I actually ****ed up my back a few years ago pretty bad. I was unable to walk or wipe my ass normally for like two weeks. Went to the chiropractor everyday and did a crazy amount of stretching. It recovered 100 percent now, but every now and then it starts up again. So ill probably start stretching again everyday and also situps and other ab workouts I find they help. Backs are the worse to injure, totally disables you from any activities if its severe enough
