Thanks for all the info and suggestions, for me where I grew up we had dive bars, local places to eat, and of course Hardees. Can't get enough of those milkshakes and I know Hardees is pretty big down south so that excites me. Haven't decided yet if this is the place I want to move to yet, I have a couple other offers to go thorugh yet.

Also I probably won't be cheering for many Atlanta teams other than GT. I grew up an Alabama fan, and I will always support the Pittsburgh teams first and yes that includes the Pirates and Power.
If you want to check out an area where there is still hockey look at the Gwinnet County area, fairly nice area and they still have the ECHL Gwinnet Gladiators who typically ice a good team each year. Their rink is like a true NHL rink just shrunk, very nice.

Dont know if you've heard of the place but you have to check out The Varsity

Been through a bunch...

My opinions based on stays of no more than 2 weeks at a time:

CONS
1] Traffic is a nightmare;
2] Lots of homeless/panhandlers in downtown;
3] Pitty Patts Porch bites;
4] Town "closes" pretty early for a major city;

PROS
1] Cheetah Club is great if you like that sort of thing;
2] Buckhead and other burbs are very nice [but traffic is a nightmare];
3] Very educated population and all the cultural and culinary goodies that go with that.

All the best!

Depending on what part of Gwinnett Co. you're in it's full of Mexicans and their gangs. I have a few friends who live in Buford/Lawrenceville area and it's a great place.

I live ITP or In the Perimeter of i-285. And the traffic is bad but where I'm at it's a 15-20min drive to just about EVERYTHING around ATL.

Hmmmmm so your pretty much telling me every con of Pittsburgh? I don't think anything stays open in Pittsburgh past 10. Doesn't shock me most are educated which makes sense and is something that I would actually like.

PF I now want to drive down there just to go to varsity. God that looked good.

Last time I was in Atlanta I saw a guy pushing a girl on a lawnmower down the sidewalk. Imagine a mom pushing a baby in a stroller, except its a girl sitting on a broken rolling push mower.

Nah, it's not a great place to live in general that's for sure. But if you're racist I'm sure it's much worse, lol.

ATL is a pretty good place to live. It's got everything but a NHL hockey team. Still have the ECHL Gladiators.

What's soo bad about it? It's 40x better than Detroit. Plus you get all the southern hotties down here.

The BEST onion rings you've ever had, made fresh per order! Place is the bomb! Has parking for over a 100 cars, is packed daily and you can be in and out in less than 30 minutes.

All I needed to hear! I will be heading down hopefully with the next month to start taking a look at some places. I still have a few other offers to consider and take a look at but most of those cities I've been to (NY, Colombus, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, DC)

I'm pretty sure Talladega is closer than Daytona too.

Flew into the airport once on the way home from Miami. It's a pretty big airport. That's all I know about Atlanta, lol
