Agreed.. Upper leagues are better but for older guys 50+ who want to play "C", there's always gonna be younger pukes who need to stroke their ego's by running a guy or acting tough in a meaningless mens league game..

I'm hoping an over 45 or even over 50 leagues will start to crop up..

Finally got our first W of the season last night. Now we're only 1-7. Pretty hard to compete in a league where there are only 4 teams and most of them are Junior A, Junior B, University or European Pro guys home for the summer. My team is mostly former AAA and current Junior B players so were not bad by any means. Just not stacked like some other teams

I can post again actually i just forgot to check here! cause we won the Championship... So we won C+ and then B consecutively.

we lost game 1 of the championshp we came out flat in the first but dominated the 2nd and 3rd period of game 1 but not enough to come back... however game 2 was smoked them 8-2 and game 3 we won 5-3 i believe to win the B league Championship.

We moved up to A league this season and hold our own we are 5W-8L right now 3 of the losses are to the top team in the entire rink (Dukes, The #1 A team for the past few years) And we hold our own with them too.

nice! Do teams move up if they win the lower leagues or something? Do you just want to do hoodrat things on the ice? (sorry, had to slip some latarian milton in there somewhere)

yeah if you win, you move up a division until you are in A. usually lowest team will move down a division also unless their record dictates they can stay.

I played in the A leagues around Phoenix for a number of years.

Some guy convinced me to play for them in a playoff game for the B league. It was the only time I got a stick in the face playing. I got a bunch of cross checks to the spine too. The worse the player the more intense the bastards are for sure.!!

Our fall season just kicked off, and I missed sign up by a couple of days while I was out of town, so I'll likely be doing some spot duty here and there.

Hoping to get the call to play this Sunday morning.

I'm just doing some pick up stuff. I've got some stuff lined up for the winter session, though.

2 days a week, sometimes 3. Sucks because mostly its either at 9 or 11 at night which makes for an early morn. Well the 11pm one at least, get home 12:30ish awake until 2 or 3. blah! hah. A friend of mine on the team, who's around 55, Is playing in a bunch of leagues, he's on the ice 4 or 5 times a week. He sure loves it!

a guy I play mens league with coaches a Jrb team. long story short, a 4th line player wasn't playing a lot, usually they don't, and yelled at the guy saying 'wtf i can't do anything from the bench! why am I not on the ice?' and the guy said 'because you're ****ing terrible' and the kid i guess quit and threatened to tell on hockey canada for being called terrible

wtf is the world coming to?

anyway, this week ive skated monday,weds, tonight (thurs) and tomorrow I'm filling in. 4 skates a week rules!!
have a mens league tourny the 30th-2nd, should be fun

played goalie tonight for the first time vs. the worst team in the league. we won 9-3. lots of fun playing in net. First goal i saved with the blocker, but it hit my dmans helmet and bounced in front so the guy scored. 2nd was a breakaway. 3rd was a ****ty shot from the hashmarks that i shoulda stopped if I had the paddle down.

I made 3 other breakaway saves though . and i passed the puck up the middle to their guy, who had an open net to shoot at, but I dove and saved it with the paddle. highlight of the night! hahaha. it was an awesome experience, but that's enough for me.


oo and I got an assist! yay

Played pick up puck yesterday morning. Was a good fun game going. Sides were pretty even just by chance with people wearing dark/light jerseys.

Had a shot block on an open net as the goalie made the save, kicked the puck to his left, right on the tape of a forward at the faceoff dot. I took the puck right off the shin as I kicked out the leg. Got a good pat on the lid from the tender as he slid back across.

Also tapped in a fluke of a goal, but I'll take it. I snuck in from the point. A pass from the behind the cage was going to the slot, hit a skate and literally landed right on my tape on the door step with the goalie being late to react. I stuffed it in, tapped the tender on the pads and had a good chuckle (he had robbed me 10-15 minutes earlier on a wrister from the point with traffic).

Good times. Season I'm really looking forward to starts up in January.

Funny stuff tonight before a pick up game, some mens league teams on before us started getting a little chippy. All of a sudden, a guy lines up some other guy, and all hell breaks loose. (I missed other stuff so idk what happened before). One of the teams benches clear, the other team doesn't so its probably like 10 or 11 on 5. One of the guys with 5 started chasing this guy with his stick in the air like he was going to club him. Another guy comes from behind, whacks the stick out of the guys hands and crosschecks him in the head. IDK what the hell was going on but it was hilarious to watch. Luckily no one got too hurt. Bunch of doorknobs.
