I didn't see your post Yoke - congrats on taking the title.

Thats gotta be great to play with your brother, and take a title. I couldn't imagine how that would be, but it has to be ****ing sweet.

It's a lot of fun. We had only played together 1 other time since mites, and it was for 1 period in high school when he got pulled up to varsity from jv.

I think next session we will be on the same line. For this one, he was mostly playing defense. We put up a lot of points when we play together because he likes to shoot, and I like to pass, so it generally works out.

Only time I ever got to play on a team with my little bro was in like 5th grade baseball when we needed an extra person and he volunteered to jump up a league for us. One game.

Otherwise, never in football or hockey through 8+ years.

Don't have a game until Sunday night, due to Memorial Day. Been in the gym everyday, working on cardio to stay up for it. Amazing how fast the cardio leaves you in this high elevation.

No game until Sunday, when the 1-4 Beer Barrons shall take the rink again.

That sucks dude. I've had to re-arrange two trips back to Minny around hockey nights, just to not miss a game.

Nothing I hate more than missing a game, in any sport. Especially one like hockey where I know the team is going to need me every single game.

Yeah, that's the worst part. Plus, it's a new league, so I don't know how good the teams are. Hopefully it's a team that we can beat, and the tougher teams won't come up until I can play every game.

Its only about an hour long flight, 2 hours though with the time difference.

Driving... about 14 hours and 926 miles.

When I first moved out here, it was $189 to get a round trip ticket a month in advance. Now, its at least $330 for the same ticket, with the same month of buying time previous to the departure date. It ****ing sucks.

Yeh I heard flight rates were really taking off (I hate myself for this pun taking place), I heard it was really bad. What's the team record standing at these days?

0-2. I've got two points though. No takers for a go last game when things got nasty.

The team we play on Sunday is a decent team, and they've got double our PIM count. Which is saying something with us being in the top 5 for PIM.

Should be a fun game come Sunday evening.

Has the makings for a good matchup. Remember, only two FM's a year, plenty of games left, good luck man.

In the win column! 6-5 shoot out win. Yeah, I know, a ****ing shoot out. Thankfully, I didn't need to shoot, that would be VERY ugly. Had 3 helpers last night, 2 on the PP.

Started out very ugly, going down 2-0 within about 90 seconds. Then, we got on track and started to swing away, literally. First PP, I sat at the top of the crease, got one turn around shot off and the goalie kicked it to the corner so I went after it. Got to the puck with one coming hard, and dropped it back to the point while busting back towards the crease. Mark, our best blue liner, loaded the shot, waited for the traffic and let go with a BOMB from the point that missed everything and found the twine. Great goal. A bit later on, off a 2-2 coming our way, I didn't even look down, but just put my left hand in the guys' chest and poke checked with my right and got the puck - pushing it back a couple feet. With that, we started the counter punch with me leading the attack. I hit the blue line, cut a bit to the right coming in on the goalie, and dropped one back between the blue liners, and Zack burried the one timer. Huge to tie the sucker up before we go into the 2nd, IMO. Back to the PP late in the 2nd. And this one was probably my favorite of the game. I post up in the high slot, get the puck from the half boards, and in one motion direct a back hand pass backwards to Mark for another bomb, and he let it rip, missing the goal wide. I get in deep and start digging. Finally getting the position I need, with my ass in the guy's stomach to get it on the back hand and lift a saucer threw the slot and to the point where Mark unloads again with a slapper. Nothing but net. That took us up to 4-2 at that point. We let the lead slip away late, and they converted with their goalie pulled to force the shootout.

It was a very good game, all around from my team, and myself. I unofficially had 6 blocked shots, and I feel everyone of them today. I've got 4 bruises on my legs, so I know I got at least 4. The worst one was a shot I took to the back of the lower leg... yeah, there is no padding there.

It's crazy, the night started off terrible. Couldn't find the new arena, for my life. Left extra early and got the area about 40 minutes early... then spent 45 minutes looking for the damn place. Eventually found it and managed to get there about 3-4 minutes after puck drop, and when I was skating across the ice to get my sticks put away at the bench and take a seat, I was told to stay out on the ice and didn't have time to put them away, so I just threw them to another defenseman and threw on my gloves and went at it. It sucked because I had no sock tape on...

All in all, it was a great night that started out pretty ****ing ****ty.
