Two Gordies in the same game

Last night, in the Rockford-Chicago game in the AHL, both Danny Richmond and Nathan Oystrick had Gordie Howe hat tricks in the same game. It's rare enough that there would be one in a game, but to have two must be really unusual.

When was the last time this happened? I'd guess it's been a while.

The fact that they're both defensemen makes it all the more intriguing.

Suttons gordie would have been alot better if he won his fight against clarkson, even though he scored the game winning goal.

I was at an IHL game in Cleveland where defenseman Chris Tamer got a Gordie. Beat San Diego's Denny Lambert in their fight, scored the game-winner, and even won a face off in a shorthanded situation after the two forwards got tossed from the draw.

Not as impressive as the two d-men getting the Gordies. That's incredible.

Bill Vandermeer did this a couple of years ago when he was playing for Missouri in the CHL, and then some.

2 goals, 4 assists, 6 points and 16 PIMs, 10 of which came from two fighting majors.

Lanny McDonald once scored three goals and had three fights vs Philly in 1977.

cool thread, i wonder if any of those goals from the rockford/chicago game were empty netters and if the fights happened first... gordies are way harder to achieve if the fight happens first i think.
