Total matches in an NHL season

I have it at 2378 (29*82) - a team can't play itself. Am I right there or have I missed something out?

Not sure why this popped into my head, but it did.

I see the logic. I rightly said that teams can't play themselves, but forgot that they need to play an opponent. Once again, I use this emoticon:
