Ray probably would have shattered the 30 FM plateau in a few seasons, but that was back when the Sabres weren't pussified. He shared the load with gord Donnelly, Brad May, Bob Boughner, Matt Barnaby, Mike Hartman etc...

In his rookie year he had 26 FM's, and Mike Hartman had 20.
'91 -'92 he has 19 FM's.... but Donnelly and May get 19 and 13 respectively with Brad Miller notching another dozen or so.... and so it goes for the rest of his career.

That's the case with a lot of the classic enforcers. Team toughness had a different meaning back then. In a lot of cases you had a couple guys getting 20+, a few in the teens, and a slew with a handful of FM's. It was spread arround more than nowadays where only one or two guys generally carry the load.
