Signed up on these boards just to give thanks to this post. I'm a Flames fan, so I often hear about ironman stats (in recent years, various Flames players have been the leading NHL Ironman at some point in their careers - Brendan Morrison, Cory Sarich, now Jay Bouwmeester... I think I'm forgetting one too...unless I'm just misremembering and thinking of Olli Jokinen's playoff drought record), but ironman stats aren't very easy to find on the internet.

So yeah - dunno how accurate any of the numbers in this post are, or where the numbers came from - but they look pretty accurate, so yeah, thanks very much for assembling all this, Svyatoslav!

Yes. Not sure of the detail though?

He never missed a game in his whole pro career. Very impressive - no matter how lucky you are, there's got to be nights where he took to the ice with bumps, bruises, strains and sprains..

Glenn Hall's record is ridiculous, 502 straight games as a goalie is tougher than any other record in any other sport. And that he did it as one of the best to ever play the game makes it even better.

With all due respect to Roy and Brodeur, they are pu$$ie$ compared to Hall. Hall didn't benefit from the outrageous gear that goalies have now, didn't benefit from 6'4 230 pound dmen who were allowed to hook, hold, and crosscheck people at will during the 80's and 90's, and didn't even wear a bloody mask! That takes massive cajones all by itself but do it for over 7 seasons in a row? Staggering.

I think it blows away Cal Ripken as well since Cal basically got to stand around for 3 hours scratching himself and had maybe a grand total of 5 minutes of game "action".

Glenn Hall rant off.

yeah but at the same time, Brodeur/Roy play more minutes, face more shots and train harder and more often.

I'm taking nothing from Hall, but Brodeur/Roy have their own unique issues/challenges they've had to deal with.

Ripkin's streak would have ended a lot sooner if his father wasn't the manager when he was batting 200 for most of the season.
