Most PIMs in one game (NHL & Minors)
I am just watching Bruins-North Stars game from 80-81 that resulted 406 penalty minutes
 So I came up wondering what's most PIMs in one game? Wich one was that? NHL? Other leagues?

..ok this is weird, i am currently watching a Nottingham v Sheffield video from 2001 in the British ISL.
Can't remember the exact number of PIMS but it was around 420. Guys climbing over the plexi glass, 3 guys with with the bear chest, bench clearence, the works.  That was the best game i ever went to.also taken from the minors topic. Game called with 5 mins left in the third when the teams got down to the back up goalies. 314 PIM's in the game including 17 misconducts. Not really sure what set it off but it looks like minor league hockey at it's best. LP - Yes the NStars/Bruins game is still the record for the NHL.
I talked to Steve Payne a few years back about the game and asked him if he ever saw the game. He didn't, he told me he had been kicked out of the game so early and it was in an era and time when TV's weren't in the locker/training room for him to watch the game. All he could gauge the game on was the number of players retunring to the locker room to be fixed or to get changed after getting tossed. I sent him a copy of the tape, he was very grateful. MJ12

Ewen. That recap was from a Odessa Lubbock game in the CHL.
The game i was at and have the game tape of was the Notts/Sheff game i mentioned. Wasn't sure if you realised that. When i was at the game i was going nuts. It was just 40 guys on the ice fighting for about 15-20 minutes solid. Was good but there was no way you could see everything whilst there were several fightas going on at opposite ends of the ice. Seen it 10's of times on video and i see something new every time i watch it  .My favourite is when the players clear the benches. Scott Metcalfe comes of the bench and does does a lap of the ice (skating past all the fighting) taking off all his padding and his shirt. As if he knew that it was gonna last a loong time. The officials were useless (or useful depending on what kind of person you are ). The only reason the fighting stoped if because the players were all competly out of gas

much to my dis-like the refs in the CHL are allowed to give the (rule 41 Abuse of official 10-min misconduct) away like its candy to anybody that looks at them wrong and if you look at the break down of that game you can see that they are giving it away left and right.

I asked this in another thread in this forum, but maybe this is a better place to ask.. how many PIMs did the Cgy-Ana fightfest a few seasons back rack up?
Also Steeler, any chance of me getting a copy of that Steeler's game tape? I'm willing to give you something in return (wont be a fight tape, I havent any.. Ive plenty of other stuff that may interest you though)..
