Tinordi didn't care who he fought, he was huge and was a top 5 fighter during his prime. He fought Probert, Kocur, Kordic, Clark, Nilan, McSorely, etc etc. No chumps there and he gave them all they could handle but he lost some of them proving he was a super tough guy but not quite the elite, at least not consistently.

Here he goes with Kordic-

Here he just overwhelms Chris Nilan-

And a brutal, grueling bout with Marty McSorley-

promise as youngster

His fight when he was a youngster/rookie taking on the champ Probert at MSG, it tells ya a lot about the guy at such a young age, he took some wicked shots and stood there and answered a lil, it showed me alot

A tough old school type Dman - Why did the Rangers trade him? He was everything they could have used on that team and yet they traded the guy

WOW! Never saw that Kordic fight. Hey! by all means post the second Kocur fight if one can find it - i never saw it - According to an eye witness that second Kocur Tinordi fight may have only been glorified roughing penalties though they both received majors

Tinordi's style is somewhat Probert-esque

Here he is with Shanny

This was one of my first exposures to Tinordi and I was equally impressed. This kid has a lot of GUTS. That's what I thought. Tinordi was tough, NO DOUBT about it!

That Dirk-Tinordi fight is kind of a hidden classic, both guys threw em with all they had.

One of my favorite Blues fights and I would have no problem putting it on a top 10 list for fights in franchise history

Thanks for posting that clip. That is a beauty fight for sure. It's a wonder Tinordi didn't bite his tongue off in fights the way he would pull a Michael Jordan

He also had more than a few really fun one sided bouts. One totally one sided win over Quebec's Daniel Dore sticks in my mind. Nick Kypreos etc. His win over Rob Ray was another T2T. At his best, guys had trouble with his "length" (height and reach)................like fighting an octopus or a comic book villian with two whips for arms. He just seemed to envelop Wendel Clark and very few had Nilan so puzzled.

They don't make D-men like him anymore. The prototypical 80"s defencemen who deserves the kudo's he gets. Can't think of a single current player who resembles a guy like Tinordi in style. A shame really.

I can't think of any either. I think the last one was Derian Hatcher if I'm not mistaken. There are guys who can fight and guys who can hit but usally not both like they could.

Matt Carkner might be the closest and he's not as good a player as they were, not bad but not those guys.

Yeah, I think Carkner is the closest today. Almost the "poor mans Tinordi", which ain't all that bad. Tinordi's wide open style reminds me of a couple of other fighters of his day, Glen Cochrane and Dave Richter. They all fought with an intent....the intent to f*uck you up. I remember well his battles with Wendal and Tinordi's fight with Nilan is reminiscent of O'Reilly fighting Richter. An old vet who did'nt realize that the kid has some chops. Thanks to all the guys for the vids.

He's knocked in some corners for a lack of power but he did drop two outstanding fighters in Rudy Poeschek and Keith Primeau.

One fight i always wondered about was among his first in DC. He took on Paul Laus in a fight that i've never heard anything about, let alone seen.

The Marathon bout with Momesso was in STL and was a very good bout indeed

Matt Walker is another one, even though he hasn't been really that active in the past couple years.
