Referee Interference
How many times have you guys watched a fight and saw a little more of a referee than you wanted to?
Maybe he was getting in between the fighters trying to stop things Maybe he came in after the fight and "unfairly" broke the fighters. Maybe he tied up one of the guys and gave one an advantage over another. Well the later is my example in a fight between the Philadelphia Flyers Behn Wilson and Tiger Williams of the Toronto Maple Leafs. At the conclusion of the fight, the linesman came in and got a good hold of Wilson but failed to restrain Williams who railed off several unanswered punches at close range. How many times have you seen a referee create an unfair advantage in a fight? Do tell !!!;) |
Probably one of the most irritating moments in a hockey game, I prefer when the player takes it into their own hands.

I would imagine Collins will get a lot of airtime in this thread. An absolute turd that thought he was part of the game.
May as well start with the fight that cost jerkoff Collins to lose some blood. Thank you Chief, thank you so much.
This one bothers me to this day. Shanahan was from the Nystrom school. The linesmen coming in only signaled round 2.

Yea, Kevin Collins used to be the absolute worst about breaking up fights before they started. Hated that guy. Always like Paul Stewart, he'd let the boys play. Always could count on a chippy game when Stewart was ref.

I couldn't stand Collins, when he was doing a game you just knew if a fight broke out he would **** it up somehow. I loved the Berube punch but unfortunately it didn't teach him a lesson.
For all the years I've been a fan I cannot for the life of me understand why linesmen do this unless one guy is in a situation where he could get seriously hurt like being tangled up in his sweater or something where he can't defend himself. Even then I still question it. |

Collins was awful, just totally awful, there is nothing more to say.
I know it's gotta be a tough job to be an NHL linesmen and to break those fights up so I have to give them somewhat of a break but there is nothing more frustrating than seeing 2 guys drop leather and square off only to have it stopped before it gets started. So many examples, I can't think of any specific. |

An official draped all over Hamrlik and Thornton.
Subban and Marchand broken up twice.
Literally, every time the Bruins and Habs have a possible fight the Zebras/Komisarek jump in.
And who could forget the Lucic punching Meyer...
This is a growing problem with the NHL seeming to crack down on fighting...they try to jump in before the fun gets started. |

The zebras should have made Brashear get up after that one, don't ya think? |

Would you send me the clips of Langdon beating Chara 3 times? I don't want to clutter the thread with those, but I can only find 2 videos one of which is a crap draw and the other is a brawl that doesn't really show Chara and Langdon fighting. Feel free to post them on my wall if you can find them. |
