Random Ranger Classic fight pictures
Since a lot of time has been spent on one Ranger tough guy I thought I would post some pictures of other Ranger tough guys and fights from the 60's thru the 70's. I was at MSG for some of these fights. I will try to give a sample of most of the Rangers that did the fighting in the different era's. Remember there were no designated fighters back then so the guys that did the fighting also for the most part had regular shifts. Here goes.
I will start with the two toughest Ranger fighters when I started following hockey. Both were top fighters of that era. First is a bout that was between two top contenders Kurtenbach vs Ted Harris. They fought numerous times starting when Kurt was a Leaf. This was at MSG and I believe according to the newspapers Kurt got the win. They also had a great bout another time when Fleming was fighting Ferguson at the same time. Not a bad tag team bout.

next is two fights with Reg Fleming taking on tough Don Awrey of the Bruins. The first one I believe Fleming took . The second one was Awreys fight. I think that happened in a Ranger blow out in the Garden

next up a few from Vic Hadfield. He was really wild earlier in the 60's before my time, but stood as one of the toughest Rangers right thru the early 70's. He had some real feuds with Bugsy Watson and Henri Richard among others. Here is a sample of his bouts. This one cost Vic a broken hand. It was a real swingout vs Rosie Paiement who could throw them.

next Hadfield pounds Barrie of the Sabres and gives it to Bugsy Watson at MSG . I was there for that one. They had quite a feud going, I remember Marv Albert's great calls of a couple of their bouts.

another famous Hadfield explosion was this night when he dropped the linesmen trying to break up his fight with Bob Stewart the tough d-man the Seals got from the Bruins in the Vadnais trade. This game also held special importance for the bruins and Rangers.

Next up is Brad Park. This was a guy who was #1 on my hate list but looking back he never gets credit for the toughness he displayed along with being the 2nd best Dman around at the time. He fought everyone. No B.S.
FIRST UP A Garden swing out with Skip Krake of the Kings. ![]() By johnnypie19 at 2012-08-16 |

Next are two vs the Big Bad B's. At the time I gave him no credit because it was against my Bruins but if I am honest he fought every Bruin Tough guy [ and most of the Flyers] and didn't do that Bad vs the Bruins losing badly to only Sanderson. Here he beats the older version of Ted Green after teddy started it.

next is another one I remember happening right in front me. Brad didn't do to well vs King Kong Korab but like I said his list is pretty impressive. Schultz, Kelly, Cash, Ted Harris etc. .

next up is Slats Sather who had a bit of a feud with Flyer Giant Rick Foley. This was a much anticipated fight at MSG. The prior game Slats wacked Foley on the head with his stick. Sather was a player the Rangers counted on for fighting back then

next is Ronnie Harris who also was one of the tougher Ranger fighters back then. He took on Kelly, Dorny, Schultz etc. Here he is trading punches with a Tough Blue Floyd Thompson.
