Killah you are right , but it was 257 games without a goal .

In Ken Daneyko's defence , he played 1,283 games in a 20 year career with the Devils from the 83/84 season to the 02/03 season , it was 6 seasons spread out over that time that he failed to score a goal , 3 in a row .
He must have done something right to dress for that many games ...

In 16 seasons in the NHL Belak has dressed for 495 games ....

Daneyko was a hell of a player and a winning player that you don't realize you miss until he is gone. Jeff Beukeboom was like that with the Rangers and we never replaced him. These kinds of guys are not there for their scoring prowess! Rod Langway was a perfect example! How much did he score and who cares. He scored by preventing goals and being a great leader and teammate!
Belak couldn't hold Daneyko's jock!

For a Dman that was on the small side (6ft 195lbs) Daneyko did something players his size usually don't do , he played for 20 seasons ..
Not shy either , he accumulated 2,516 PIM along the way , 6 seasons he was well over 200 pim ,
Belak not being able to hold his jock is an understatement !!

Here is a couple records that goaltenders don't want to ever see ..

Most losses by a goaltender career , shared by two ..
352 - Gump Worsley - 21 seasons -861gp ..
Curtis Joseph - 19 seasons - 943gp ..

Most losses one season .
48 - Garry Smith - 1970-71 - 71gp , this one I can understand , Garry played for the California Seals at the time ..
47 - Al Rollins - 1953-54 - playing for Chicago - 66gp ..
46 - Peter Sidorkiewicz - 1992-93 - playing for Ottawa - 64gp

I don't think their was much bragging about these records ...

Their are a couple goal tending records I don't quite understand , maybe it,s this flu I have but they just don't make sense to me ..

The longest winning streak by a goaltender one season .
17 - Gilles Gilbert - 1975-76 .

Now this is were I get confused .

Longest "UNDEFEATED" streak by a goaltender in his first season ,
23 - Grant Fuhr - 1981-82 - 15w-8T .

I think I get it after looking at it in print , Gilbert's was all wins , Fuhr had 8 ties , but still he never lost for 23 games , not bad for your first season ..

This one anyone can understand ..

Longest undefeated streak by a goaltender ..
32 - Gerry Cheevers - with Boston - 1971-72 - 24w-8T ..

Here are a couple goal-tending records that have been around forever ..

Most shutouts one season -- 22 -- George Hainsworth -- Montreal -- 1928-29-- 44gp
15 -- Alex Connell -- Ottawa --(twice - 1925-26 - 36gp -1927-28 - 44gp) .
Hal Winkler -- Boston -- 1927-28 -- 44gp (no forward passing allowed in attacking zone in 27-28)
Tony Esposito -- Chicago -- 1969-70 -- 63gp ..

Longest shutout sequence -- 461:29 -- Alex Connell -- Ottawa -- 1927-28 -- 6 consecutive shutouts (again no forward passing allowed in attacking zone)
343:05 -- George Hainsworth -- Montreal -- 1928-29 -- 4 consecutive shutouts .
332:01 -- Brian Boucher -- Phoenix -- 2003-04 -- 5 consecutive shutouts .
324:40 -- Roy Worters -- NY Americans -- 1930-31 -- 4 consecutive shutouts .
309:21 -- Bill Durnan -- Montreal -- 1948-49 -- 4 consecutive shutouts ..

I never Dano was that small. He looked a lot bigger out on the ice and he looked like a pretty decent size guy in person!

His strong defensive play and just his overall consistency made him stick around for all those years. He played in every playoff game from 1988 until one of the games in the Boston series in 2003. That is one hell of a streak to play that many playoff games with one team.

It's a shame that very few players will be able to spend their entire careers with one team besides some of these superstars. I doubt we'll ever see someone play 15 plus years with one and only one team for their career without being a superstar.

Daneyko played in 175 playoff games , 5G-17A - 296 pim , what made him so effective he was strong as a bull , he could out-muscle much bigger players , thats why he gave the impression of being much bigger , Tim Horton was considered by some the strongest man to ever play in the NHL , Ken was like that , deceptively strong for his size ..

Tim Horton was 5-10 - 180lbs ...

Remember what Gump Worsley said when asked what team gave him the most trouble! "The Rangers of course!" Worsley was playing for the Rangers at the time!
He goes to Montreal for Plante and shows himself to be one of the great money goalies ever with 4 Cups and a 30-6 record with a 1.92 GAA as a Hab in the playoffs.
You can throw the records out when it came to the Gumper and he showed that a goalie when playing with a team in front of him can be unreal and clutch! Other goalies with great teams in front of them never rise to that level to win a Cup like a Gillies Gilbert even though they have great regular season records!

BJ here is one record every one on this site should recognize .

Most penalty minutes one game ..

419 - Senators (206) - Flyer's (213) - March 5-2004 at Philadelphia ..

Ottawa received 8-minors - 10-majors - 4-10 minute misconducts and 10 game misconducts .

Philadelphia received 9-minors - 11-majors - 4-10 minute misconducts and 10 game misconducts .

This game also produced the record for the most penalties in one period (409) , and the record for most PIM by a team for one period (209) Flyer's ..

Hey Fellas,

I could not get my computer fixed and because I missed you guys so much, I went out and bought a new laptop. It has a Intel Pentium dual core processor, multi layer DVD, 17.3 HD screen with 1600X900 resolution, makes meals, changes diapers and does windows (both figuratively and literally). So, whatever all that stuff means that I typed before this, I am now able to be here, where I want to be.

Once again we have reached a magic number. In all that was going on, we blew past the 1600 post mark, so here we are at the next milestone.

Posters, we have now passed 1700 posts and about 36,000 views. WOW!!!!!

I went back and took a look at the first post on February 1, 2009, and the posters who responded on that first page. I want to list them because, without their initial response, this thread would have gone by the way side. Thank you blockerpunch, fansince65, bigjack, 2,5,10, haz-ben, canuckfan, and jkidd. Your responses kept us alive.

Going through the names of those who have posted here is like going through a who’s who of posters on this site. To thank you all individually would take up a page in itself. Be assured that each day your names are gone thru and you all have the thanks and gratitude of every poster here. Without each and everyone of you, this thread would not be here, nor would it be what it is. We continue to live and thrive on what each one of you bring here.

One of the things that is most gratifying to us, is the influx on new and younger posters here. The stories and comments they post keeps us fresh and gives a different slant on the game or how history perceives an event that we might have seen or heard.

The response here has been more than any of us could have hoped for. Words alone cannot express the feelings of seeing the continued participation of those who frequent this site and post here. We appreciate what you all have built here.

Thank you all,

M3M

Killah,

Thanks for that breakdown. Great job.

Your post is an example of the contributions made by the younger posters that has given an input of new blood and outlook here. If I would start to mention all the names, it would be redundant, as you have them listed. Rest assured, we know and appreciate all the newer and younger posters that have taken time to leave a bit of themselves with us.

It is a good feeling to see those names and their contributions.

From all of us here, Thanks again.
