Understood. However, I don't believe that amount would place him in even the top 30 in that particular category.

Dave brown had close to 200 fights. How many times they fought means nothing.

Jim Cummins fought more than Gillies, Wilson, Nystrom etc but I would NEVER rank him higher than them.

Buchberger had around 250 fights and I have yet to see him get much ink in this thread. Really though the actual number of fights is probably the least of the factors I use for ranking, as long as the guy fought steadily thoughout his carrer and fought other quality heavies.

It is cool to see DMac get some notice but IMO is not Top 10.

top 10 of all time...

Probert- The definition of what a tough guy is and should be. Feared by ALL who had to stare him in the eyes...knowing that they were the underdog no matter what.
Brown- fought everyone and fared well. Feared by most.
Wilson- Just loved to throw em' and did well, plus could play the game on a regular shift.
Grimson- With a nickname like the 'Grim Reaper', enough said!
Fotiu- Took good care of his skilled players and did so with authority.
Nystrom- Loved to go t2t with anyone with entertaining fights.
Kordic- Just plain scared guys and threw bombs every fight!
Jonathan- Fought to keep a job and earn a living. Did OK in most fights.
McSorley- Knew his job...protect the great one, and did it well.
Kocur- One of the heaviest right hands EVER. If he hit you with the right...god night, sweetheart.

Not necessarily in the correct order, but all definitely in my top ten of ALL time. May be off by a guy or two, but pretty close.

Honorable mention: Brashear, Magnuson(God bless his soul), Ferguson, Howe

Many of you have Kocur, McSorley and Probert with whom I agree with but if you have the 3 of them it's only fitting to have a man that beat them all, and with authority a few times, #17 Wendel Clark. He schooled McSorley twice that I remember and put his cousin Kocur in the hospital. Had epic battles with Probert and beat him plenty. Never saw him bleed either. Most certainly a top ten fighter. At his size taking on the biggest and baddest as Ballard's golden boy night in and night out deserves the highest praise. Neely could certainly throw 'em. Tony Twist, Mike Peluso and Torrie Robertson were all fantastic fighters. Willie Plett and tiger Williams were no slouches either.

I agree..... I would also think that Warren Rychel doesn't get enough ink here.... he beat the daylights out of Wensink, ended Brash's career, and whipped McCarthy, Simon, and Ewen easily. Come on guys , what do you think !!!!! Oh , ya , and his NHL history leading 552 fight career is without equal.

HM goes to Cam Russell, Jim Cummins, and Mike McPhee.

Top 10

Any list without Mel Bridgeman in the top 10 contains a massive error/omission.

Honorable mention

I couldn't put together a true top 10: Probert, Gromson, Kocur, Twist, etc. would probably be up at the top.

But, even though he'd never make the list since he was a goalie, i'd like to give an honorable mention vote to Ron Hextall.

I think if we have a top-10 goale fighter thread, he would easily be the top. The fight where he destorys chelios will never get old, and if it does, you just wait 30 minutes and it's new again. You didn't get in his crease, and really, do you think Avery would have survived if he would have got all up in Hextall's face?

Anyhow, just had to add that to this thread. Carry on.
