Odelein vs. Marchment

Here's another one of those pretty even fights, imo. Two underappreciated AND underrated fighters. Who wins a series between these two?

I'd say they'd have a pretty good rivalry, a real struggle between them

I say Odelein would win in serie of 10 fights.
Odelein with more wins in grappling matches, couple/few wins for Marchment in punchfests.
Odelein wasn't very open puncher, toe to toe fighter.

Odelein is another player Ive always been a big fan of, a tough-rugged Dman the kind of which you tend not to see now. Not very big either; 5'11 200lb but could take on pretty much anyone, and didnt ever get beat real bad until the very end of his career. Also could be a little unstable at times, as indicated by his sucker punch on Rob Ray during a brawl, and firing the puch into the Sabres' bench. Along with his feud with Matthew Barnaby, he quite suprisingly wasnt too popular in Buffalo..

I'd say Marchment is the better fighter then Odelein. Odelein was good but he also took enough beatings in his day. Marchment was very tough and hung well with mostly everyone he fought. Both fought their share of good fighters. I think he'd beat Odelein most of the time.

Marchment was tougher (70's hockey tough) but Cornelius was a better pure fighter. Odelein wins it 5 - 3 - 2.

After he lost the series though, Marchment was mad so he took out one of Odelein's team's best players knees. So really, he wins too.

Damn, I loved Bryan fvckin Marchment. He wins this series IMO. I could see him clockin' Odelein real good if they trade.

I see Cornelius Odelein underrated fighter in this thread.
Watch his fights, he was smart.

Marchment has a size advantage over him, but I think Lyle was a better fighter. Close series and I'd give it 5-4-1 to Mr. Odelein.

Wow what a tough one in my opinion. Marchment was tough as nails and Odelein could fight pretty well in his prime. I'd have to go with Mush 6-4 in 10 fight series though.

I think Marchment takes the series but it would be close. Marchment is big time underrated and fought in some highly entertaining drawn out wars.

Two hugely tough and underrated guys. Marchment may have been meaner in a fight but Odelein was smarter technically. Although both guys were both smart AND mean.

Marchment may have more power, Odelein with the better ability to switch and fight a more "technical" fight.

Im not sure how this fight goes in a 10 fight series, but I am going to lean towards Odelein. Its got nothing to do with the fact he played for hockey's greatest all time franchise....

I am leaning towards Odelein I think he was the better fighter. But the thing that stands out for me with these two guys is the mean streaks both had at times. Both guys could switch up fairly well, had good chins, and the "desire" was also fairly close. But when the gloves dropped I think Odelein was a little more skilled but regardless a good matchup here by to fairly equal and underrated guys - I really don't see one dominating the other and some good long wars between them. 3 -2- 5 for Odelein.
