Kim Clackson vs Nick Fotiu, Feb 28, 1976

What do you make of this? Is this authentic or a hoax? That announcer sounds like something straight out of the movie Slap Shot:

Very curious, could be a homer announcer sounds like a good scrap. I remember hearing that Fotiu's hand got badly cut by another players skate in this fight

I'm pretty sure it was during the first fight between them in January that his hand got cut.

Nice find, Mox. Thanks for sharing. never heard that before.

In the book 'Indianapolis Hockey' this fight is mentioned as being a big fight that changed the complexion of a game that ultimately helped turn their season around. Apparently Kim Clackson 'buried Nick Fotiu in a legendary fight'. That may have been "Hockey Bob" Lamey with the fight call. Same day the Saints folded.

So the all things Fotiu thread is longer required? I can't see this as a fraudulent recording but man that Announcer is wild...makes Jennerette(sp) seem boring. Either way they all lose...every one of them.

Considering it was a vinyl record, it should have been on 33 rpm but when the fight call came on, someone switched it to 78rpm!

Great find. Nick lost a fight? Holy crap.
