saying it is a boston newspaper is an attempt to lend that article more credibility than it actually deserves. You would never ever see the herald or globe write an article praising a NY ranger for a non fight against O'Reilly. never. there were never any patriot ledger "sports writers" in the Bruins locker room after games. I can understand that when they write pieces like that about a NY ranger at the expense of one of the most revered Bruins in the organizations history.

This is why it isn't a Boston newspaper. it is a south shore newspaper. fotiu played for cape cod in the minors. married a girl from southern Mass. etc. it's obvious what region they cover. they also coverd hartford sports as well. were they a connecticut paper as well?

How is the article "praising" anyone? It's just telling it like it is.

Facts get in the way with one's narrative!

Cashman won't drop his lumber even after Nicky did and it is Nicky who is posturing behind linesman.

We all wish Fotiu was more aggressive and would have just dropped his gloves and started throwing punches at certain times but he didn't and I could see that costing him when it comes to ranking fighters. The truth seems to be that people did indeed duck him for whatever reason and the more I see the more I trust Jack's stories over the haters misconceptions, though I can't buy the one punching of O'Reily unless I see it.

I thank posters like you, Flyer Frank, BS25, and others who refuse to let the fact that Fotiu has been over-hyped cloud their judgement or feelings about him. It helps someone like me that saw Fotiu play but was too young to really remember or realize what was going on paint a clearer picture. Same with someone like Johnny Pie that knows a lot also but feels differently.
We have all written here numerious times that Nick should of fought more and been nasty but it is what it is. Some of it was him, some of it was his coaches, and some of it was he knew to stay in the league he couldn't hurt his team with constant ridiculous penalties!
For a guy with skills honed in NYC at age 16 and never playing college or junior hockey to have played from 1974-89 in the WHA/NHL, he must of been doing something right and a guy like Badger Bob Johnson wanted him as an old man and played him when he was healthy!
