My dad was the VP if the Ads and drove the bus when Brophy was coaching the Ads so i got to know Brophy on the ice and off.

On road trips my dad always carried the players meal money on the trips and bail money for brophy which he had to use many of times.

On the game on the greensboro brawl was started a week earlier by brophy. Both teams hated each other, but a week earlier we played greensboro and they were late because of an accident. We beat them and beat them in 6 fights that evening. In the paper the next morning , brophy was quoted as saying they were late because they were afraid to come down here and get their ass kicked all over the arena. greensboro had that article taped in their locker room that night. i actually took my work to this game . Nonme have seen hockey before.

Brophy made the players wear their uniforms bachkhome 5 hour drive without shower because they lost the game. said the team did not need shower because they did not do anything tonight.

he was classic for making the team do sprints after a game if they did not play good.

I sat on the bench alot of games, and he cussed out every opposing player when they were near the bench. He did this the whole game.

Once in awhile he would send me up in the stands to take care of fans he thought were bothering the team.

one of the meanest on the ice but nicest off when we won.

I have plenty of stories of brophy who i still talk to once in a while
