Disgusting! While ILB may have a point, though that point is exaggerated with some of these clips, your post is a generalization of a lie and it is ironic that you weigh in on Simon's career with the vigor you use while adding nothing to back your BS. I wonder if I could find ten clips that show Simon is worth more than his weight in dog shXt? Even if you think he is only top 30 or 40 all time then that is a pretty good fXcking career. Stop trying to ride the coattails of others if you have nothing to add. Simon was a great addition to this league no matter if one poster overrates him or not.

It's fairly easy to sit back and throw up all of Simons bad fights or supposed bails. Then when someone shows him standing and trading with the most lethal lefty of all time brown people want to turn their cheek the other way. Simon beat brown in both fights and fell in those fights as well.

All fighters have issues for example the king probert had consistency issues later in his career. Brashear was a hugger and Laraque was a wrestler. A lot of there fights ended with so much more to be desired. Where were there hearts at times or do they get a pass. Why did domi duck twist, kocur and turtle against Mackenzie?

I think you can see where all guys had there huckleberry s and you could not pick forever . Simon was one of my all-time fav guys. I think he could have been
top 10 if he chose to be a pure enforcer but hel was a guy who did often play On A regular shift and probably chose the right path As his career lasted 15 years . Of course I wish he would have engaged in more matchup s against top notch guys. When he was on he was as fun to watch as anyone IMO.
I would rate Simon somewhere in between 20-30 all-time based on his resume.

A healthy shoulder and little more fire he was a top 10!!

Agreed. My issue is the guy was a beast, yet played the role of coward one too many times. Guys like Cam Russell and Jim Cummins get their balls busted on this site for getting floored often. Question is who looks more pathetic? The guy who fights to the end whether that means getting dropped or not, or the guy who pulls the fake fall when he's no longer willing/interested?

I can't say I am a big fan of pulling the chute. He is guilty of that but I just don't know how many times. Of the clips posted I thought Tochet and Boogard were clear bails. The Laraque one looked like a possible bail also. I thought McAllister got a quick lead and threw him down. Janssens got leverage on him and Simon fell backwards. Parker muscled him down after a good battle. He missed a left against Erskine which put him off balance and Erskine finished it. He ducked a right against Chara and Chara had met his five second scrap quota and tossed him down.

I see a couple/few bails and a lot of shoddy footwork. Simon would have been better off if they paused the game and formed concrete around the two players feet before the fight started. But that was the beauty with him also as he liked to stand there and chuck them. He has taken a lot of punches and kept throwing and while the bails may reflect poorly on his courage, standing in and throwing lefts vs. rights takes some balls.

It was easy to see where this thread would go.

I have Simon pegged as a bailer also, I just don't think he liked to get hit so when the going got rough, he'd bail out.

Let's face it, some guys have less heart than others. Simon had all the tools to be champ and didn't get after it, that's all there is to it. He's got some good wins on his resume and had a long career but never really lived up to his potential in my opinion.

I think Donald Brashear was much worse than Simon though, that guy would bail on fights which he was winning just to guarantee a win! He got so many easy wins as a result of grabbing on, hugging, throwing a few noogies, and then oooops, he slips on a banana peel. And he's got quite a few fights where he gets tagged and he grabs on so the other guy can't throw anymore, I call that the standing bail. It explains why he had such a long career and never really got hurt much at all.

Mick Vukota was well known to end his fights with a body slam, he was plenty strong enough to do so against anyone but he even admitted in Stan Fischler's book that he didn't like to get hit so at least he was honest about it.

If you look at those 3 guys and I'm sure there are others, I think you'd find that they were guys who just didn't like to get hit as compared to a Probert or Gaetz or Twist who you can hit and they just keep coming after you or a guy like Darren Langdon who I also don't think liked getting hit but was so good defensively and would actually fight back after getting the opponent tied up in knots.

The topic is very relevant. I rank Simon in the 30's and most of that is because of willingness, no right hand to speak of, and balance issues. With more fire in his belly, he could have been top 20 and possibly higher.

Onward

I'm sorry, but I see all of these as clear bails except for the Janssens fight.

I back it up with this: You say you see Simon's main problem as "shoddy footwork" (balance). Well how about someone shows us some examples of Simon having this shoddy footwork/balance issues when he throwing a punch and WINNING a fight. Where's THIS evidence? I recall him looking like the Mr Balance America champion while he was beating up Phil Crowe and HOLDING HIM UP, so he could beat him some more.

It's just my opinion and nothing that could be proved I guess but I definitely think he was wrestled down by McAllister and Chara. I think those two are the obvious ones that have some video evidence.

As for your last paragraph, I think those fights do exist and will post a few where he was winning and went down, but I don't think his problems with footwork were as obvious when he was planted and throwing lefts. Once they got to wrestling around and jockeying for position is when he moved like he had cinder blocks on his feet. Still, here you go;

Brown was doing no throwing here, just getting hit when Simon went down.

Vial didn't land a punch here and Simon was clearly winning;

Man, he looked like a real klutz in some of those fights, almost Peluso like but other times he's solid as a rock.

The Vial fight looked like a knockdown to me, he just fell over like a sick cat.

They are all obvious bails in my opinion. It's very amusing how some people over analyze minute aspects of others yet refuse to talk about the obvious flaws in their favorites. Hypocrisy at it's finest!

It's funny that you've posted this clip for the 50th time and you can't see Simon grabbing on and falling down intentionally at the 10 second mark so he wouldn't get hit again. Brown never "pushed him down," Simon grabbed him and fell down as he often did whenever he was in trouble. It was his old faithful, as demonstrated in the opening post. One of the many reasons he'll never be in the top 20 of all time...

He doesn't get it, doesn't want to get it, and aint never gonna get it.

I think it's a lost cause at this point. You either have to ban the guy or just let him post whatever he wants and make himself look stupid over and over again. I understand OCD because I have it but I haven't seen a real good quality dose of it like this in a long time, this guy takes the cake. My OCD is totally mild compared to this.

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.
