I think both Gilles and Fotiu for that matter are guys with low FM's because of the fear factor. Gillies was a beast back in the 70's and 80's and no one wanted to mess with him. He enforced when it was needed. No wanted to mess with these guys especially Gillies. Also, you need to factor in that Gillies was an all-star player as well.

I would replace with Brashear maybe with Nystrom. I'm not a fan from what I've seen and what I remember. Great player, good fighter but he was also a bit of a pillow puncher.

I just can't place Brash in the top 10 all time because of antics that have been talked about. I have no problem top 20. He has had a long career as a goon. The last few years he just pi**ed me off too much with his fake glove dropping, turning his cheek, and big losses. No question he’s has been and will continue to be a controversial figure when it comes to goons.

Brashear is easily top 3. Can't think of anyone besides Probert & Brown that have DOMINATED year after year & has beaten most of the top guys more than once.

Godard may have bloodied Brashear, but Brashear still won that fight.

Please,....the "running from McCarthy" was obviously Brash tryin' to get his tiedown undone, but most of the Brash haters see it as running. He's sh*tkicked McCarthy worse than anyone ever has so it's no contest.

Good post. You are dead on about Gillies and Fotiu having low FM's due to the fear factor, especially Gillies. Guys were defintely afraid to challenge Gillies. I also agree with you that Brash is not top 10 all time.

If Brashear gets whooped a few more times like McGratton did him the other night, there wont be many people putting him in the top10 alltime.

I have to say the downward spiral has begun, it wont be long before his nickname will be "Lumpy" or 'Knucklehead' or 'speedbag'.

You call that a whopping. I just call that a plain win. A whooping is what Brash did to McCarthy a couple preseason's ago.

I'd call that a good whooping, Brash didnt know what the hell to do, he tried to intimidate on the square off with that "piano dance" he does but instead of tapping his fingers in the air he should have been tapping Gratt's head with his knuckles, make no mistake this is the time when he starts to lose more and more, looks good on him, he just doesnt like to fight bigger men, I can see why.

If that is a 'good whooping' against Brashear, then that pretty much cements his place in top 10 all time.

It seems like people are reaching to try and find any sort of loss so they are overblowing his most recent one against McGrattan. Sorry, that fight wasn't a beating, wasn't a domination, and wasn't a 'good whooping'.

And the way someone squares off doesn't really play a factor into how people come up with their ranking...at least most people.

Brashear beat your favorite fighter. Undisputed top 5 all time.

I find it funny how only Flyers fans are saying that wasnt a good 'whooping', he got his ass kicked man get over it.

And out of all the guys he beat on the list from page 1, I find it funny only 15 of them are actually bigger than Brashear, the rest are smaller.

While this has been debated before, I would find it hard to rank him in the top 3

It's not only Flyers fans. It's only the members who arn't completely biased. Respectable members, mods, and Flyers fans are calling it what it is: a win, but not a domination, whooping, blah blah whatever you want to classify it as.

You made stupid comments about his square-off like it even matters, now you are claiming 'homer' and going off on tangents. Knock it off, Steve. You are better then this.

I have to agree that it was no way a whooping, ass kicking etc.. But Brash looked really lost out there. Once he could not get a hold on Gratts it seemed that he did not know what to do.

I skimmed through the list and came up with 33 players that are around the same size or bigger than Brashear that he has beaten right off the bat. I'll go back and research some more later on to get an official count. But honestly, what does Brashear's size have to do with his win total? The fact that he isn't the same size as Wendel Clark or Tie Domi brings him down a notch? Honestly Steve, stop now while you are ahead...

My point being was he seems to enjoy fighting guys that are smaller than say a guy bigger than himself, I know he's 230 or whatever but the tall heavy guys seem to get a pass sometimes with him.

And just because a guy is 6'3" (ie;McCarthy,McKenzie) dont think that makes them the same size, everyone talks about how big and strong Brashear is, so you know he's at least 10 to 15 pounds of lean muscle mass heavier than most if not all of those guys(except Laraque).

The big dudes give him trouble and usually beat on him unmerciful (Kordic, Cairns, Grimson, etc).

Come on you cant ignore what I pointed out here. 75% of the guys Brashear beat on were smaller than him, the bells were going off again as soon as I saw his list of wins.

Please list these tall, heavy guys that have gotten a pass from Brashear. Both McCarthy and McKenzie are taller and listed around the same weight as Brashear on the majority of sites so I don't really know what you are getting at.

Those guys didn't give Brashear a beating my friend. Kordic probably had the most success out of all of them, but neither of his wins were complete domination. The Grimson fights were draws and he has split the series with Cairns thus far. So what about these big dudes that he has beaten? What about Oliwa, Parker, Nazarov, Myhres, Belak, Leroux and the rest?

I'm not ignoring what you are trying to point out here at all, just simply explaining how your logic is flawed, that's all...

McGrattan-Brash was definitely not an @ss-whoopin', more like an edge or slight win for McGrattan - Brash got his knocks in, but bailed at the end when he got all f*cked up (read: disoriented) trying to get his bearings and avoid punches.
