Curt Fraser vs Wolfman Jack McILhargey

This one came to mind because of battleship mentioning Fraser as the best short puncher [6 inch] ever. I remember Wolfman as being pretty good at the quick short punches too. I would have liked to see them go. It seems to me they would have made for an interesting series. Some good toe to toe action.Fraser has the edge in power but Mcilhargey had some impressive fights [Fotiu,Lane,Williams,Oreilly etc] with quick short punches.

Interesting matchup, I see Fraser dropping Jack Mac maybe a couple of times( he was fairly easy to hit-only Hilworth really KO'd Jack Mac) but as usual with Fraser if he was unable to register the big KO early he would try and turn it into a wrestling match( he was much stronger) but Jack would force the issue because he always had his hands moving- like Nystrom he'd force Fraser to fight and could make this a very entertaining series. Hard to call-I'll go with Fraser 4-3-3

Good matchup JP. What's interesting is these two were paired off during that Vancouver-Philly brawl in 1979 yet didn't seem too interested in fighting one another.

While Jac Mac probably had quicker hands, Fraser certainly had more power and if these were wide open contests (Fraser had a tendency to hug) my money would be on Fraser.

Fraser 5-2-3

McILhargey openly swinging might be the undoing of him in the early going; however, Jack Mac had really fast hands and may have taken over the longer fights- stamina was definitely an issue with Fraser.
Fraser 3-2 [ with one TKO/KO by him ] but Wolfman would swarm him during the two losses & the rest would be grappling draws too hard to call

Wolfman beat Fotiu and yet lost to Hector Marini(!)

WTF?? I liked his fights with O'Reilly and of all the tough Flyers during that era he was the one I despised the least. He seemed to fade away fast like many toe to toe brawlers. I guess I am going to go with the consensus. Fraser was fast off the draw and had a bigger punch.

Speaking of Fraz, check this out: Note how he gives big props to Paul "The Greatest" Holmgren

That would have been a great matchup. They did come together in 1981 during a bench clearing brawl in Vancouver but mostly waltzed around.

Ther is a video up on youtube
