He seemed to fight better when he was younger, at 14 or 15 he beat up Jeff Greenlaw in junior, who was 18 or 19 and a tough guy, then he took out Simon later on.....

Fun to watch but he wasn't a pure fighter. He could hold his own and stand up for himself. Strength was key for him, but in no way could he have been even discussed in the same sentence with the guys mentioned.

Yeah, I don't think he compares to those enforcers in that regard, he wouldn't have been fighting guys like that on a regular basis so it's kind of a moot point.
He was sure tough and could handle himself but he's not mentioned the same way Larry Robinson isn't mentioned among all time great fighters. I'd put him in the same mold as a Clark, Neeley, Tocchet, Tkachuk, guys who could skate, score, hit, and fight sometimes and those guys could all fight well but aren't in the same mold as say, Dave Brown.

From what I remeber he never lost an NHL fight?
No way could he have been better than the guys you mentioned unless he devoted his career to fighting

Didn't Marty Mcsorley do pretty well in one against lindros? Hazy memory from the last thread that brought up if E.L. had lost a fight in the NHL.

Something tells me that Lindros would not be made to look bad against any of the Flyer Greats - I say he turns into a type of Langdon, not overwhelming, but certainly representin'

Lindros was certainly of a size whereby he would give those guys a fight, but wasn't the pure fighter that these guys were.
Remember that Louie Debrusk was the terror of Lindros in juniors.

I gave the win to McSorley in this one:
Can't recall him losing any other fights off the top of my head. He fought a lot of scrubs though. Certainly had the size and ability to be a force if he wanted to go that route.

No way
Lindros was a huge man with tremendous strength but night after night of pounding it out with cement heads would have worn on him.
He was a hockey player who could fight when he needed to. That's it. Big Behn and Dave Brown liked it and were great at it.

I would have loved to see him scrap with possibly the strongest Flyer ever but also a nice guy, Tim Kerr. Kerr is who Lindros reminds me of the most as far as physical skills go. Players wanted to test Lindros much more though plus he had a bit of an edge to him which Kerr didn't.
I was at this game and remember this incident, he was only 19 at this time

As for the question, no, brashear was close to or at his best early in Philly , brown, Wilson and McCarthy were all better. Could lindros of held them off and win a fight? Yes but he didn't have the mental make up of a true HW. No question he was as strong as an ox. |
