Same with scoring goals... Love watching little Theo fleury race down the ice after that OT win in the playoffs agains Deadmonton... Make this a spectator sport again, not like the snore leagues with no character, like the No Fun League (NFL) and Zzzzzzzzzzz MLB

Some honour goes a long way too. Celebrations after a goal, winning a fight is great. We are talking about going out of your way to make a fellow player look bad.

Fighters have to stick togeher to some degree.

Disagree... The point is to make a player look "bad" and make them angry and stupid... Maybe the Super HW try to stay together... but anyone can fight, right

Armstrong? geez he's nothing

better Prust, White and Moen.

Armstrong will get KILLED by either Ott, Kaleta or McCormick IMO

Ummm...no. The point is to win the fight and settle a score, not just to fight, that's why I can't stand the pre-planned fights where one guy asks the other before a faceoff- "you wanna go?"

That's what made the 70's and 80's the golden age of hockey fighting. 99% of the fights you saw back then were a result of a hit or something said or a dirty play and the guys settled it on the ice.

As designated fighters became the norm, you had more of the "staged" fights and yeah, many of them are good fights to watch but they don't accomplish a whole lot except maybe get one team more pumped up.

If Tony Twist asks Rob Ray to fight and Ray says sure and they go and Twist breaks Ray's orbital bone and bloodies him, what does Twist accomplish by acting like a goofball and taunting him? He already made him "look bad" by destroying him in the fight. And you want him to wave his arms, slash his throat, and wipe his hands?

Tony Twist vs Rob Ray - YouTube

They both do their job and Twist massacres Ray and easily could have taunted him or waved his arms, whatever but he doesn't, he chooses to just skate to the box.

I just can't get there guy, there is just no need for hi jinx.

This is completely different than say, Wensink doing what he did to the North Stars bench, that was just glorious and was spontaneous and a reaction to the way the North Stars were playing and fighting.

Well I guess we totally disagree on this...

I would love to see Twist slashing the throat to the bench and asking who is going to go down next... who is going to be the hero after I detroyed your boy... Advantage Twists team!

I think there is a place and a need for hijinx... it is a game after all... and I watch for entertainment... So entertain me, rich monkeys!!

I wish hockey was like the pre-Bettman days... The good ol' days... When men played hockey... Not these kids now that don't want to break a nail or they might not be able to count all their money as quickly...

Actually that would be kind of funny to see. I can just picture it.

i heard of something that happened in the minors with Rob Ray, he had just dispatched an opponent in a fight and Archie Henderson, former tough guy and coach of the opposing team yelled at Ray- "This is going to be a long year Ray!!" And Ray yells back- "for me or your fu$%ing players!"

Henderson then put a bounty on Ray's head and guys like Dean Ewen would come up to Ray in games and say- "can I still collect on this bounty?"

I agree. He's a terrible fighter but he's way more likely than Moen to get something going with a big hit or dirty play

Was never a fan of the taunts or gestures, most of the paybacks were fun to watch though like Shelly-Rupp as was mentioned earlier.
