I know it was clear as day that it was an accident, but it's still funny seeing people defending Cooke here, as inadvertent as that might be.

But yeah, Melnyk needs to shut his yapper. I get it, your biggest star is out for the year due to an unfortunate incident. Yo Gene, remember remember Steckel on Sid? I thought that was accidental, too. Didn't hear the Pens higher-ups crying for Steckel to get the book thrown at him, did you? Shut the **** up. It's hockey, unfortunate accidents happen all the time.

I don't think it was intentional either, it's unfortunate it was Cooke but like a member said already you live by the sword... he's rep is well known, and no matter how christian he want's to be in the NHL nowadays, his rep will follow him until the day he dies!

As for Mean "Gene" Oakerland.... err Eugene Melnyk, the guy is seriously P.O'd and has every right to be but to blame it on Cooke sounded more like a rabid frustrated man that just needed to blame someone or something with his two top stars now out of the lineup!

Sens owner Eugene Melnyk is a disgrace to hockey. Between trying to ban opposing teams fans, calling out the Kings, and now insulting a whole other league? This ****ing dummy got dementia.

Something is wrong in that organization...look at the talent/toughness that has passed through with nothing to show for it.

What makes you feel he was in his right to say anything? Leave it on the ice between the players if they feel it was wrong.

It looked like Cooke lost his balance and I don't think it was intentional because Cooke didn't pull off his skate and stab him. I also didn't hear Cooke say anything along the lines of I am going to using my skate to cut your achillies tendon.

****ing witchunt. Any Sens fan who wants to cry about losing 2 guys to freak injuries can come over and vent to the Pens fans who almost lost their 2 star players for the rest of their careers. For everything Mario has done wrong, he at least didn't come out say he wanted guys thrown out of the NHL after Malkin, Crosby, and Staal's freak injuries. Take a breath Ottawa and CALM DOWN!

If I can nitpick, the general consensus in local circles was that Chara wanted out of Ottawa; both sides were way apart, and Redden was the consolation prize. It wasn't one over the other. But yeah, I agree that list is pretty pathetic.

I said back in July that losing Carkner and Konopka in one fell swoop was going to suck huge balls for this team, and here it is. Neil's a decent scorer when he doesn't have to be the lone sheriff, and I don't think I've ever seen Zach Smith do anything but serve as a speedbag for someone else's fists.
