Blood is purely superficial. Looch won that fight, but the fact that Neil came out leaking made too many people think it was worse than it was.

Slash against the shins< spear to the nuts.

So you think that Neil needed his ballbag smacked in order to get him to fight? Why not just drop the gloves and start swinging instead? I'm sure Neil would have no problem accomodating him.

Apparently YOU are "in his head"? You know what he's thinking? Soul mates?

That would be a pretty strange way to attempt to get a jump on someone.
Do you know what "get the jump" means?

Getting the jump = starting the fight before the other guy to gain an advantage

Hitting someone in the nuts is a strange way to start with an advantage?

I only hope that Neil is as pissed about the "cheap" spear by Lucic as you are. We might be in store for a great fight between these two when Looch returns from injury.
Is there such a thing as a "clean" spear to the nuts? I'm not pissed about it. I expect it from Lucic.

And if the situation were reversed I'm sure you'd be defending Lucic and making excuses for him losing as much as you are for Neil correct?

If ? Are we discussing hypotheticals now ? If I say no will that change the fact that Neil was hit in the jewels directly before the fight?

JS and others wouldn't, but the Bruin homers would, which would more than make up for it.

It's all about balance.

Brashear beat your favorite fighter. And would win in hypotheticals as well (except Belak).

No I suppose it won't. Nor will it change the fact that Neil lost the fight. Either way that type of response supports the initial point I was trying to make.

Not from my view. Both "sides" are just as equally annoying.

And what point was that, because it certainly wasn't very clear. Is your point that there are Lucic "lovers" and Lucic "haters"? If so, thanks for the newsflash, I was wondering about that.

Yes, Neil lost the fight after he was speared in the nuts.

Lucic won the fight after he speared Neil in the nuts.

Those facts support the initial point I was trying to make: If you hit a guys balls before you fight it gives you an unfair advantage. If you have an unfair advantage, then it's really no big feat when you "win".... then to see the usual suspects saying he "tuned" Neil up? Maybe there should be an asterisk.

Looch tuned up* Neil.

*after spearing him in the nuts

You claim "both sides are equally annoying", yet you only, for lack of a better term, "go after" the Lucic "haters". I wonder why......

Yeah, like you're completely unbiased Jack. Even a casual observer could see that you always "go after" B's fans and criticize Lucic. Nothing new there.

I am a Senators fan () and I don't really have a problem with what Looch did to start off the fight, I also don't think it really had any bearing on the outcome of the fight. Lucic just has longer arms, and Neil did not have his best fight. I am sure he will be after Lucic for a re-match to even up the score, so we will have to wait and see if Looch will man up and give him that opportunity. (I don't see why he wouldn't) As a fan you hate to see a guy lose when there is a "questionable" incident before, during, or after a fight, but the fighters, the classy guys they are (for the most part) hate to win those ones, too. I am glad there is some animosity between these two guys since I always thought it was a really interesting matchup, but it's time to move on from this whole argument and look forward to the next round.

Exactly. Who cares if he started the fight by a little spear to the junk? It didn't cause a serious injury, so let's get over it. Where I think differently is that I do think the spear did have an impact on the outcome of the fight, but again, who cares?! It's hockey, not every fight is going to start out in a perfectly fair manner. I wouldn't be surprised if next time Neil gets the jump in some way, shape, or form. It happens.

Again- exactly. A little bit of bad blood is great for the sport and the divisional rivalry. These guys will probably be seeing each other six times a year for the better part of the next half decade. Why not put a little hate into the rivalry?

Funny thing is that Chris Neil used to get ripped in the Ottawa media (early mid 000's) for doing nothing when the team was down. He gets into a scrap and tries to fire up the fans, and gets ragged on for that now too.
