At what point is the safety of players taking away the overall product? Well, that would've been a good question to ask three years ago. The pressure coming from the league offices to use penalties as a deterrent to these big hits has been taken to another level.

There's being a lot of bashing on refs here, especially by me. However, it's all deserved. Sure the game goes fast but constantly ruining games with these brutal call IS ALREADY taking away from the game. The best refs are the ones you don't remember. It's a shame that Shanny or the league doesn't do anything to prevent the continuation. If nothing is done, these calls will continue. I know I'm talking simple....its just annoying the zebras incompetence it making great athletes suffer.

The refs are one of the main reasons this season isn't great. 99% of the games are all special teams 5 on 4 5 on 3. Put the whistles away and let them play!

For me its not that they make the calls its that they're so fucking inconsistent.

This diving call on Rinaldo might be the worst penalty iv'e ever seen. And because of his penalty they blew the whistle on a 3-1 for the Flyers.

Hopefully they catch on to players turning their backs on good body checks. Those penalties make me feel like puking. Especially when the guy who gets hit flails his hands in the air like he's been hit to the head.

Hmmm, doesn't a guy have to leave his skates or really embellish a hit in order to be called for "diving"? Rinlaldo couldn't have done anything differently. I don't like Philly but you guys got ROBED big time. No need to blow whistle there.

WOW! That is the worst call ever. Rinaldo seems to be the biggest target in the league for these pissflap refs. I guess he plays with too much emotion for them to handle.

Those and the new interference are stupid. The glove over the puck thing as well. I like how Cherry mocked out the refs for this. "If the other team ices the puck and you get to it first and throw your hands up you get a powerplay"...or something like that

Yeah, but no matter how much it hurts the product(the game); they never seem to do anything to fix it.

The newer, inconsistent, interference penalty is a ****ing nightmare to see game in and game out. One night, it's called like clockwork, the next, it's not.

They need that to be loosened up so defenseman can interfere a bit and prevent their partners from being put through the end boards.

The no using your hand in the defensive zone to win a draw is ****ing pointless too. It's a hell of a strategy and is clearly aimed to, yet again, get more offense in this league - yet it [was] perfectly legal and remains to do in the D zone.

The headshot crap is a joke. The refs see a head snap around and instantly make a call based off of a whiplash rather than actually looking the hit over. And that, is just awful. Especially with the penalty that comes, and a player likely booted from the game because of it.
