Let me guess, you're a fan of some of those bus-riding, career minor-leaguer meatheads who don't have half the fighting skills or balls of a guy like Laraque so you call him a "douchebag?"

Keep riding the bus.

Stop trying to get tickets, Laraque isn't joining.

Well if it took me twenty minutes to make sure everything was spelled correctly my answers would be short too.

Just out of curiosity, how many languages do you speak? My guess is one.

I think Laraque is a very honest person. My guess is there are a lot of NHL-fighters that actually don't like their job. They realize that it is the only thing they can do to stick in the NHL, but they would probably prefer being scorers.
Laraque is the only one that isn't shy about admitting it.
We don't like to hear it but I think it's understandable that doing this job is not really fun especially as you get older.

Fine, I'll bite. Two. I can speak German, and I'm currently working on my third language, which is Italian.

Haben Sie noch andere Fragen?

My guess is, your probably wrong. The only other NHL fighter who doesn't like fighting is your buddy Lucic. No need to make excuses for the two. If other players didn't like it, why would they not say anything? Judging by how most of the players act, before, during and after their fights. I would say most love their job. I'm sure you met a bunch of people in your life that loved to fight, well some of these people are in the NHL. I'm sure that's what bothers you, consider the typical European style of hockey.

Lucic likes fights..heres some qoutes from an article in boston globe...

''For me, I think it's all about trying to get in a good shot," said the 6-foot-4-inch Lucic, who has a long reach that helps in calibrating those punches. "You know, you have to be smart in the placement of them - put 'em in a good spot, like the chin or the nose."

"I'm on YouTube all the time, I like hockeyfights.com, too. You know, just checking out guys, their styles. For me, hey, it's entertainment. I like to watch. And I'll be the first to say I'm not the only one on this team who watches."

You don't see the whole picture.

It's not just the point if they like or don't like fighting. The point is that they are hockey-pro's. They worked hard and sacrificed a lot during their youth and teen-years, they worked hard on their game and in the end they are on the ice just to fight. Sure initially the excitement of being in the NHL will let them forget their concrete purpose on the team. They'll be happy to fight, but as the seasons pass, they'll find it harder to deal with their reputation as bad guys, loose cannon, goon, fighter or simply to live with their job.
They probably dreamed of being a hockey star as kids too, just like everybody else but they can keep their dream alive only if they fight and hurt people. To deal with that is not easy, and even all-time-greats like Brown, Schultz, the Kordic's or others admitted that they often had problems dealing with their reputation and job later in their career. A lot of the enforcers turned to drugs, alcohol or other things becaue obviousley they weren't too happy about their job. Or do you think it is just a case that so many enforcers are affected with that kind of problems?

Peters sure doesn't like fighting anymore IMO, Belak once admitted he doesn't like to get hit and has adapted his style to survive longer, but that shows that he probably doesn't enjoy it too much.

Sure there are some fighters that may like it, I'm thinking of Rob Ray who definitely enjoyed his job also late in his career. But most of the times the young guys don't mind fighting but after some time most of them don't like their job too much anymore IMO. That's why most of them decline pretty fast and are less aggressive soon.

Yeah, those same bus-riders who still have the same passion, commitment, drive and worth ethic towards what got them into the league, and on a hockey team, in the first place. Those "career minor leaguers" who work for every dime they're paid, and do anything they can to entertain the fans whom pay their salaries.

Yeah, "meatheads"....

I think he meant the beer-drinking, substance-abusing, bar-fighting, girl-raping, driving-under-the-influence overweight hockey fighters, that behave like rednecks instead of pro-athletes and are a big reason hockeyfighters and with them also the hockeyfights have such a bad reputation.

No, thats not even close to what he meant. And honestly, those guys really don't exist anymore, as they tend to not find a home with a pro hockey team.....that is unless your name is Billy Tibbetts and you can find a home with the Huntsville Havoc or the Eastern hockey league.

And today's LNAH is quite the opposite of what it use to be 2-3 years ago.

And what is wrong with drinking beer? And when you mean substance abusers, do you mean coke...or do you mean roids, cuz thats common place for a lot of minor leaguers, not just fighters.

Billy Tibbets was unfairly labeled and it ruined his career and his life....he was a good hockey player who never got a shot....in 2005-2006 he played for the Chicago Wolves in the AHL and had 21 goals 42 points and 249 pims in only 46 games.
