Just skate around for 10 seconds and then.... FIGHT! It's annoying but it's better than the OHL rule by far.

Barch is pissed... Don't blame him.

Very disappointed with the #OHL decision on the implementation of restrictions/suspensions/fines in regards to fights, fight totals, etc.

We may be witnessing the loss of tough, physical, skilled power forwards and defensemen alike in our game. Thank god for the #WHL .....

No, I mean doing the beginning your shift, dumping the puck in, and then going at it in a corner of the ice. Might take 15 seconds and you have to make it look like you didn't decide off the face off. It's not as stringent and can be snuck in. It's pathetic that it has to be that way but it's far better than the OHL rule. Not even comparable.

EDIT: That said, won't be going to any more Vancouver Giants games ever again.

Keep on laughing. But eventually this will have an impact on the NHL too. And not in a good way. It won't be very funny then....

We're witnessing the beginning of the end. Almost all enforcers started in the OHL, WHL, or QMJHL [even some Americans like Cam Janssen].

If by "divides hockey people" they mean "divides hockey people and soccer mom wannabes" then yes.

Fortunately, I'm already weening myself off the NHL. Otherwise, I might be upset if they actually did this.

David Branch and Gary Bettman both need to leave the sport of hockey!

I agree with eliminating the senseless staged fights , they serve no purpose at all except to give the fans a little excitement in the game , the enforcer protecting your star players has always been in the game and always will be until they ban fighting altogether , that day is coming sooner than we all think , some leagues have already done it , when they play in the Olympics we are all glued to the tube watching every game , I have never heard one complaint about the caliber of hockey played , don't think I ever have seen a fight in any of the games played and it is some of the best hockey we ever witnessed by the best players from all over the world .

Fighting in hockey is going the way of the dinosaur , sad to say it will be extinct in as little as ten years ..
All that hockey knowledge, yet you seemingly don't have a clue. In fact, what I bolded there kind of makes me wonder if you've ever even watched the sport.

Staged fights? Are you f*cking kidding me?

What do you know about "momentum" in sports? How about "energy?" Ring a bell? When a team is flat and doing nothing, what effect does that "senseless staged fight" usually have on the bench?

You can't always just wake your team up with a goal. Scoring is hard to do. You can't always just wake your team up with a big hit. Big hits are hard to land. And your goalie can't just wake the team up with a great save. Great saves aren't always easy to make.

You know what's easy though? You guessed it. A little love tap, a little eye contact, and the next thing you know everyone in the building (PLAYERS INCLUDED) are on their feet and into the game.

Do you want your team's skilled guys continuously going and risking injury, or sitting in the box afterwards? Or does having a guy whose job is specifically to look after his teammates and spark the bench when needed make more sense?

And while Im ranting on your dumbass post, why the f*ck would you even try to compare Olympic hockey to anything? Do you actually believe a two week tournament is comperable to an NHL or OHL season? Do you believe players require an energy boost when they're representing their country on the world stage with millions and millions of countrymen watching them? Or how much hate and aggression is built up in 2 f*cken weeks? Especially when (outside of Canada and America) it's basically a bunch of soft European countries playing eachother.

Dumb analogoy that appears to have come directly from Bettman and Branch's mouth. Those two f*cking dimwits would be very pleased to know they've transplanted a (supposed) oldschool fan into the new "getalong gang" of NHL p*ssies.

Pretty f*cking sad.

And why is fighting considered so terrible to the OHL anyways? Two guys mutually agree to fight. What's the problem there?

I have an idea. Why not start suspending people for 10 or more stick violations? Sure. I mean the thought of a guy with 10+ slashing, cross checking, and high sticking penalties has to lead you to believe that that player is unsafe with his stick. Surely he's a danger to everyone, and someone could be hurt because of his actions.

I mean what's worse? Two guys agreeing to fight eachother? Or someone who goes around using their stick as a "weapon" on unsuspecting players?

It was more of a sarcastic laugh, I think it's ridiculously stupid what they are doing to the game.
