OHL to Suspend Over-Eager Fighters

Supplementary Discipline:

If a player is assessed a fighting major for the 11th – 15th time during the regular season, such player is assessed an automatic two (2) game suspension for each additional fighting major in addition to any other penalties assessed.
If a player is assessed a fighting major for the 16th time or more during the regular season, such player is assessed an automatic two (2) game suspension and the hockey club is fined $1,000.00 for each additional fighting major in addition to any other penalties assessed.
If a player is deemed to be the instigator in any of the fights above the ten (10) game threshold, such player would be assessed an automatic four (4) game suspension in addition to any other penalties assessed.

Note: If a player is instigated upon, the fighting major is not included in the player’s total number of fights.

holy ****...david branch is a complete tool and should not be apart of hockey in any way, shape or form.

My response to that.

Pathetic, but sadly not surprising in the least.

Of course Dreger removes all the comments posted opposing this rule change. I'm sure he and David Branch are probably high fiving one another about now.

Expect concussions and other injuries to rise exponentially, as the league scrambles to figure out why on Earth it's happening.

i don't see the whl doing it...but the qmjhl is a whole different deal as they've already made it into a younger, glorified ***** version of the nhl.

The WHL won't just yet. But sadly it seems inevitably all hockey is heading in that direction.

Watch, then they will blame the equipment (something that should have been rather obvious over the last decade or two).

Im sure other junior leagues will follow suit in the next couple of years. Fighting in hockey is dying a slow death. **** being politically correct all the damn time.

The medias f*ck everything. I can tell you by experience, when they're talking about junior hockey on general TV, it's always like that:

Each time there's something in the Q, like Patrice Cormier's elbow to one guy a couple of years ago, or the Saguenéens/Remparts brawl, you've got the generalist medias going crazy about it, showing the elbow in replay, then you have the host saying "Oh my god violence is rising so fast in hockey and these are 16 years old hockey players playing in juniors, CHILDREN blah blah blah" then they're doing some vox-pop with old and stupid people that don't follow hockey at all going "It's ridiculous look that elbow, they should ban fighting!" then you've got the news anchor presenting the survey on their website "So here you can see the population really is against fighting in hockey" then they show the scrum they had with Courteau (league commish) and the journalists are "well our surveys show people want fighting to be banned, why don't you ban it" and you've got him going "well these people are not all hockey fans, people rise on their feet when there's a fight going on" then I'm standing in front of my TV with a gigantic facepalm thinking "JUST TELL THEM AN ELBOW IN THE FACE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FIGHTING STUPID F*CK"...

I'm pissed to f*ck. The medias ALWAYS were in crusade against fighting, but for what reason really? They're always acting like everyone is against fighting in hockey but the reality is pretty much everyone in the hockey world enjoy a fight.

Just confirmed a new fighting rule coming to the OHL. The much-rumoured 10 fight maximum is part of it but there is more as well.
This is scary considering it's David Branch making these rules

Can't call it the OHL anymore, since the game they play looks less and less like "Hockey".
Time to officially rename it the OFBL (Ontario Fanny Bandit League).
