NBC to broadcast every playoff game

But the National Hockey League’s plan to get more viewers is, in fact, to show more games. This year, for the first time, the league will televise every game of the playoffs, which begin April 11 and could last up to 10 weeks, with the last possible day for the final game on June 15. The N.H.L. renewed its media partnership with NBC last year after the company was bought by Comcast, and can now offer programming across multiple platforms including NBC, NBC Sports Network, CNBC and the NHL Network.
I really like this idea. It's about time they start doing this.

This plus their new ads for the playoffs should really increase exposure for the playoffs. I had a few articles I've been wanting to post on the playoffs. They really have some good stuff planned and this is LONG overdue.

This is great news to all fans. No more being left in the dark when your team is playing their most important games.

Definitely...and the thing is, even if you don't get those channels, they'll be easier to get links for to watch online, with them being nationally broadcasted.

Does that mean that there will be more blackouts on NHL Gamecenter live?

Awesome! I think NBC has been doing a great job broadcasting and promoting the NHL. To me, the NHL playoffs are by FAR the most exciting post-season of any sport. Versus, now NBCSN has, for the past few years done a solid job with the playoffs, but they have really stepped it up this year. In the past few weeks, nearly every night they have an NHL game, and often times even double-headers with a 10:30 pm west coast game. It's almost reminding me of ESPN featuring 2 NHL games a night, especially in playoff season. Broadcasting every game makes it even easier. I can be watching one game, and if I notice one of the other games is tied up, or heading into OT I can switch to that. Watching NHL playoff OT is seond to none.

If they want to try to sell the game to Americans (which is why they're doing this) then it would be best for the refs to let them play.
Let them rip off their opponent's head and don't turn the playoffs into one big Powerplay!

i think i heard the other night that, yes, this means the end of Gamecenter live and Center Ice for the year.

confirmed in this link:

And with the new television deal and all games being on national television on the U.S. and Canada, no games will available on NHL Center Ice or GameCenter Live. Local television networks will carry first round coverage of non-NBC games.
sucks, but the only channel i don't get is the NHL Network, so i guess i'll have to go out if the Hawks are ever broadcast on it.

So will there be problems with the west coast games, if the east coast game goes to OT? I fu(king hate when your wanting to see your team and the game before is in double OT with intermissions between each.

Well hopefully they will have access to all 4 channels so we don't have this problem.
