Keith Primeau on Leafs Lunch

Did anyone happen to hear it today? According to Darren Dreger's twitter, Primeau is advocating for head checking penalties in the NHL. I feel bad for Keith and anyone whose career has been shortened by concussions, but if the NHL goes in that direction forget it, the physicality in the game will absolutely be completely gone except for coincidental bumps here and there. Players will be afraid to look at each other wrong.

I definately respect Keith, and his career. I also feel bad for what happened to him, but I'm not so sure I want to see head checks out of the game. I'm not saying I like the brutality of it. Not at all. I hate to see a guy motionless on the ice, and as a Primeau fan, I know where he's coming from. But, I fear that if they pu tin a penalty, guys will be thinking too much about if they should make th ehit or not, and the game will be alot less physical.

NFL = No Fun League
NHL = No Hitting League

If you make players stray away from the shoulder hits, you're going to see a lot more Scuderi/Chimera Ott/Carlo hits then and with the instigator still in place, a lot more suspensions.

Take away the instigator and allow players to be held accountable for such hits........know where I'm going?

Exactly, the NHL is already close enough to the NFL officiating wise where every little thing you do to a guy is a penalty, I don't want to see good hard hits taken out of the game too because a guy is too worried the player he's hitting is about to lower his head.
