Jeremy Roenick to Join TSN for NHL Playoffs

TORONTO - He's outspoken, controversial, a fan-favourite and crowd-pleaser. His passion for the game knows no limits. And you just never know what he's going to say next.

TSN today announced 18-year NHL veteran Jeremy Roenick will join the NHL on TSN broadcast team as a studio analyst for the Stanley Cup(R) Playoffs, beginning April 11. The colourful Phoenix Coyotes forward will be in-studio for six nights during the First Round of the playoffs. Roenick will also appear via satellite on the 90-minute NHL on TSN Stanley Cup Playoff Preview Show on April 10.

This marks the first time Roenick will work as an analyst for a Canadian broadcaster.

"I'm looking forward to speaking to fans that understand the game and will appreciate what I'm talking about," said Roenick. "I've always wanted to work in Canada. Now, it'll just be off the ice instead of on it."

TSN has coverage of the first three rounds of the Stanley Cup(R) Playoffs. The network's broadcast schedule will be announced on April 8 following the completion of the regular season.

Roenick is no stranger to TSN, having appeared in this year's NHL on TSN Fantasy Draft Special and last year's NHL playoff coverage via satellite. Roenick is also a regular guest star on TSN's daily sports talk show, Off The Record, where his candid and no-holds-barred comments have stirred many debates.

In fact, Roenick is so controversial and entertaining that TSN devoted an entire SportsCentre Top 10 in his honour, featuring a mix of amusing commentsand TV appearances following his infamous rant about the NHL lockout.

"Jeremy Roenick's unique style and perspective on the game are refreshing. He speaks his mind and makes no apologies for it," said Mark Milliere, Executive Producer, News & NHL on TSN. "As seen from past appearances on TSN, Jeremy has a natural rapport with our broadcast team and he certainly is a favourite with our viewers."

Roenick will work in the NHL on TSN studio alongside host James Duthie, Hockey Insiders Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger, hockey expert Dave Hodge, analyst Darren Pang, and Tie Domi. TSN will once again use two broadcast crews for the playoffs with Gord Miller/Pierre McGuire and Chris Cuthbert/Glenn Healy.

This guy is better off in the studio booth... I've watched a bunch of Pheonix games to realize that this guy just don't give a crap and should obviously just hang up the skates already.. why they signed him, I don't know...

He's out there just skating around out there like it is a charity event... no heart, no desire to go into the corners... nothing.
