Heatley Deserves Our Outrage

Quote:
...Undoubtedly, Mr. and Mrs. Heatley, through Molloy, have helped grease the wheels of a trade for their brat son. It's too bad Dany has counted on everyone around him to speak on his behalf. No profile in courage here, considering he's 28 years old.

Poor, misunderstood Dany, a multimillionaire, thanks largely to the Senators and their paying fans who embraced him regardless of what he, his parents or family friend might think.

Dany plays for the Canadian national team at the world championships most springs, his parents note through their friend, and, as a result, gives up a whole month of his summer.

Captain Canada's summer will last about four months this year -- after his gift to his country is taken into consideration. As Heatley is presumably so busy catching up on his lost month, maybe he can ask his agents to see if his hockey service to Canada is a tax-deductible benefit....

I agree completly. He sure makes himself out to be a spoiled brat and etiquette don't apply to him. He really did a number on us in Oiler Nation.

Heatley deserves to be tied to a pole outside Scotiabank, and have everyone that's ever supported the Sens during his tenure, line up, and kick him square in the balls or slap him in the face... because that's exactly what he's doing to the entire fan base.

He's a disgrace to the game - in very simple terms.

The guy doesn't play hockey for the fans. He wants out, he should have a choice where he can go, and he does. He doesn't want to go to Edmonton. Deal with it people.

Yes he does play hockey for the fans, whether he likes it or not.

No fans = No revenues = No salary; AND = No NHL

The fans are the consumers. They and they alone pay his salary. The cash may flow through the owner, but it is ultimately the fans who pay every single cent of every single NHL player's salary. The league only exists to please the consumers (the fans) and is only viable so long as the league is generating revenue from the fans. The league would make absolutely no money, not a cent, were it not for fans wanting to watch the game.

So is it alright that he's allowed to break the contract he signed?

Why should he have a choice where he wants to go? He signed a contract that pays him millions of dollars to play and now he wants out. I say fuk him and so did the sens. Where in the NHL is it colder than Edmonton.

Heatley and his parents have been trouble since the get go. He wouldn't even visit the University of North Dakota because the town wasn't diverse enough. Well it may have not been and it was his choice but thats the type of people they are. Alls North Dakota does is win National Championships and send players to the NHL.............

Or is it alright that he's went about this trade like a self-absorbed, infantile child?

He made his own bed; he's the one who went public with the trade demands; that's also why he has to publicly shun the Oilers. That all could have been done behind closed doors.

Look, when everyone from Ron Hextall to Dan Snyder's dad are calling Heatley out on this one, I have a lot of trouble siding with him in any capacity, no matter how good of a player he may be.

Without question PH.

There are countless times, I'm sure, and know, that a player will go to the GM and request that its not working out with a club, and it'd be in the best interest of the team, and someone else, to be sent to a different club.

That doesn't mean he's going to get his way - but its the professional, preferred and acceptable way to conduct yourself, on the business standpoint.

Heatley bitching like the pampered little prick he is, went about it the wrong way... the very wrong way. And shunned two top end franchises.

Jesus guys, I'm not saying he's a saint. However, he's not some evil person who is trying to piss everyone off. The guy wants better for himself, he wants to try and take an option that will be better for him.

We'll have to agree to disagree - I'm not following the logic you're trying to pass.

The way he went about things - definitely seems like he's trying to piss someone off... in fact, he's intentionally pissed off two entire cities, and countless hockey fans.

It's kind of annoying when a multi-millionaire doesn't already realize that things are better for him.

However, in the grand scheme of things, it's not really that important..it's just hockey.
