There are few details, but one source says the players involved didn't receive the necessary notification of the offers.

The National Hockey League is in the process of trying to determine whether the situation was remedied in time.

Chicago general manager Dale Tallon says the qualifying offers were mailed to the players in time, on June 29th, but says because of the July 1 holiday, some of the players didn't receive them in time.

Additional sources say qualifying offers are not supposed to be mailed.

Overnight delivery via courier and direct fax to the players agent is preferred and certified or registered mail is acceptable only if the other means are unavailable.

Tallon says fax copies of the offers were sent to the league, so he doesn't anticipate any significant fall out.

Where there is a will there is a way.

If there is a way a team can fuk up a one car funeral the Blackhawks or Cubs will find a way.

It is not like this is the second tier of core players that the team depends on or any thing important like that. But, it is the second tier of core players.

The Hawks said earlier this week that they wanted to make news 12 months this year, not just during the season. Hell of a way to get your wish.

Four pretty elite teams and not a cup to show for it...I'd say that's a hex . Not quite of the Todd Bertuzzi scale yet, but it's getting there!

Well the Thrashers did make the playoffs when Hossa was there so maybe that's what he was talking about.

Wasn't there already once a story about a jammed fax that did prevent a signing or a deal or a draft for the Blackhawks?
