Documentary - Les Chiefs

Hey everyone ... I wanted to post this earlier but I didn't have a chance until now.

I was given a couple of passes last week to go view a screening of a documentary titled "Les Chiefs". It was based on the Laval Chiefs of the Quebec Senior League (now the LNAH) and followed the lives of 3 or 4 of their fighters. A couple of them actually lived in the arena - under the bleachers in a converted apartment. It focused mostly on four players - Mike Henderson, Mike Bajurny, Brady Austin and Cory Holland. While the film begins by focusing on the brutality of the fighting ... it quickly carries you into the personal lives of these hockey players ... showing you how difficult it is mentally and emotionally to play this role on a team. Les Chiefs is funny, entertaining and touching all at once. It has been part of numerous film festivals and I believe it will be for sale in March sometime. If anybody gets a chance to go see this movie - it is well worth it. I took my girlfriend (not a hockey-fight fan) and she really enjoyed the movie too since it is not just about the violence. Let others know what you thought of it if you get a chance to see it. You can read up on it a little more at www.leschiefs.com.

I've been waiting almost two years to see this movie. It's finally coming out on DVD next month. My copy is already pre-ordered. You can order it at amazon.ca, just be careful that you order the english version.
Mike Bajurny, Mike Henderson, and Cory Holland still play in the league.
I'm really looking forward to seeing "Belt Guy", the Chiefs superfan.
I'm so stoked to see this movie.

I'd like to let you know that this is an English film. All the dialogue is originally English and the DVD has an option to watch it with dubbed French. There is no "French Version" of this film, so no worries about that.

Enjoy!

Yes, you can order from that link in America and you the cost will be transferred to US funds (i.e. it will be less expensive for you)

St.Hyacinthe as well

There was a documentary released about the St. Hyacinthe Cousin as well which i noticed in the video store here in MTL. I havnt rented it yet cause it looked like it was only in french and quite long. I will get around to it though and will report back. a 3 part series of their last season, looked a little less cheesy and emotionally introspective than the way "Les Chiefs" sounds, which means hopefully a greater focus on the hockey and the action of the NAHL.

The documentery was show on RDS this winter. It a sport french channel in Québec and it was a 30 minutes program every weeks. They follow the team through the years and the playoffs. You ear a lot from the coach and you see from the inside from the chamber. Cool stuff but it very about the inside of the game. I does'nt know if they are a english version.
