Damien Cox complaining again...

Quote:
Wasted Opportunity
The NHL had a problem fixed, and then let it slip away.

Last night included evidence of the idiocy the league has allowed to stay in the game with staged fights and the way in which good, hard bodychecks have essentially been outlawed by the players.
In the Leafs-Penguins game, there were two pointless staged fights, one between Colton Orr and Eric Godard and one between Jay Rosehill and Mike Rupp. Neither scrap had anything to do with the game or had any impact on the game.
In the Sens-Thrashers game, Zach Bogosian levelled Daniel Alfredsson with a beautiful open ice hit and was immediately set upon by a host of Senator players for his legal bodycheck.
The NHL's general managers, you may remember, took steps to cut back on both types of fights last March, but the failed state that is the NHL Players Association blocked the new rule recommendations.
The league, however, could have gone ahead with the rules and let the players grieve.
That, it appears, would have been the way to go. At least it would have been fighting the good fight.
Now the idiots continue to wreck our great game.
Wasted Opportunity

Just look at some of the brilliant comments he got:
Quote:
Why not have the fights between periods? Wouldn't interrupt the game and those not fooled could visit concession stands, washrooms, or the more interesting hallways?
Quote:
Not the first time the NHL has let an opportunity slip. During the lock out, when the league had the players on their knees, it would have been possible to reduce rosters and payroll costs by bringing in 4on4 as the key marketing feature of an all new and revitalised standard of play in the NHL. Under 4on4 a new more exciting and wide open style of play would showcase speed and skill. Very few, if any, of the fighters we have in the game today would be around to wreck this great game but they are around and they do make a mess of things.
Quote:
I was absolutely disgusted by the Leafs' pointless pugilism last night...my God, they aren't even competitive!

Or, we can just completely avoid reading any of his articles! We all know what to expect, as this is very typical of Cox. We should be all used to this!

I don't understand why so many people bitch and moan about this guy. Yes, he's a pantload but we all know that already so don't read his crap. And to think(As many seem to do)that he has some magical power to influence hockey in general and Leafs management in particular is to way overestimate this clowns influence. He will say whatever he has to in order to stir controversy and sell papers.

I cancelled my subscription to "The Hockey News" because of Ken Campbell...

Everytime the Toronto Star telemarketers call my house, I say "tell your boss I will gladly take a subscription as soon as they fire Damian Cox"...

It probably does nothing but at least I'm a man of principal.

Good character? Have you met Boots? He's not the only criminal NHL owner... What has this league become...

I don't understand why we even bother posting this stuff, Colt's right. Just ignore it and let them live in their ignorance.

Common sense agrees with you Skorka, but its not reality not to read this anti fighting crap. Its like when a fat chick walks by in a bathing suit...we don't want to look but we feel we have to.

Although if anyone has an e-mail address that we can send our hate mail, that would be appreciated.

Why ignore opposition? This is a discussion forum, and opposition is fundamental in this kind of environment. He did not write it on this board but moving it over here made it entertainment.

I think the more we do this, the more we prove his point that only cave men like us like hockey fights.

If people are going to respond to this guy, it should atleast be an intelligent and constructive response versus just running around calling him a bitch, *****, etc...

Who uses the word 'washroom'?

What a weird fella...
