After the Cowboys’ NFL season ended in a heartbreaking loss — during which quarterback Tony Romo choked, again —the football club took its frustrations to Twitter.

“Similarly in the category of nobody-cares … the NHL is back!" the Cowboys recently tweeted, likely jealous the Stars’ season is just beginning now that the NHL lockout is overlend.

The Stars shot back, tweeting: “At least our #9 can get the job done,” and attaching a picture of Mike Modano hoisting the Stanley Cup in 1999.

The snarky blow from the Stars prompted the Cowboys to delete the original “nobody-cares … the NHL is back” tweet and issue an official apology Tuesday.

“@DallasStars our sincere apologies for the inappropriate tweet posted accidentally to our account. Good luck this season,” the Cowboys tweeted.

Soon after, the Stars tweeted “apology accepted,” but have not issued an apology of their own for the attack on Tony Romo.

The shortened NHL season is expected to get underway Jan. 19 .
