Lost clearly to Brashear in Feb 2006.

He's probably the lone Ranger enforcer that had a high degree of success against the Flyers. Schultz, Brown, Berube, Tocchet, Brashear etc. had their way with the smurfs and rag-dolled them all over the ice.

Good news is that even with the dislocated finger, Orr still went out today and took part in the training camp.

Edit: This is something along the lines that Carlyle said about Orr to the media today. Don't take it word for word but I hope I'm pretty close.

"Orr plays an aggressive role for us, he has that trademark of protecting his teammates and I think he's in the best physical shape he's ever been in. I think he's moving fairly well"

Sounds like Carlyle likes him.

I always get suspicious when coaches used redundancies and genralities when talking about players.

So he's moving "fairly" well? Compared to what? To who? Best physical shape? Why the hell would he qualify his shape as being "physical"? He sounds like some random call centre agent for the bank speaking as vaguely as possible so nothing can be pinned on him.

I would assume that most players trying out at the NHL level move FAIRLY well. Most also come into camp in their best shape, I would assume.

That's only because they suck year in, year out.

I understand what you mean but I remember in Anaheim Carlyle really liked to talk in generalities and very vaguely.

Leafs need to cut 3 more players to get down to 23 and Carlyle seems to be trying to find a spot for Colton Orr.

That' the problem when you ass ume ..you can end up looking or sounding like an "ass" all Carlyle is saying is that he looks to be moving and skating well out there for a HW. Players don't always come to camp in good shape!!! Carlyle is old school no BS.

You are reading way too much into those comments.

He is saying Orr is in the best shape of his career and has improved his skating, which was what they told him he had to do if he wanted to make the team. As far as coach speak goes this is pretty straightforward.

Not only was he not cut, but he's also in the opening lineup tomorrow, playing with Brown and McClement.

I'm paraphrasing a bit, but this is basically what Carlyle said today: "Our players need to feel safe. Orr provides protection."
