Adam McQuaid vs Bobby Robins 1/15/2013 Article and video of fight...

http://bostonherald.com/sports/bruin..._sloppy_defeat

There was one fight in the third period when Lane MacDermid shoved Adam McQuaid down after the whistle. McQuaid took exception to it, and Providence enforcer Bobby Robins stepped in and dropped the defenseman with a good shot.

McQuaid, who missed the playoffs with concussion-like symptoms and then had surgery to remove a blood clot in October, was fine physically, Julien said.

“Just one of those things when things don’t go well, they don’t go well. It went from bad to worse,” the coach said with a chuckle.

Still, the coach liked to see the aggression from McQuaid in his first game after his health scare.

“Certain guys find their game quicker than others, and he’s a guy that’s going to grind his way through because he didn’t play in the playoffs last year and he’s got a lot of catching up to do,” Julien said. “But I liked the fact he had the right attitude, the aggressiveness and he had the emotion to do something about it.”

Good to see that McQuaid is not scared and will keep up to play the way he should and is expected.

On a side note: really nice story about Chris Bourque, would be great to see him make it in the NHL as a regular in Boston after he failed in Washington and Pittsburgh.

Pretty stupid if you ask me...

A top 6 defenceman who's coming off concussions and shoulder surgery fighting a scrub who will never get a sniff in the NHL.

Plus, why is Robbins wearing a visor?

I like Robins style, true he probably won't get a chance on the B's. Good to see McQuaid drop the mitts though, hopefully he can get back to his Stanley Cup run level.

Win Robins

I was at the game; it was a blast. For an inter-squad scrimmage, the game was decently physical with guys trying to get in game shape as fast as possible.

Robins definitely opened some eyes last night. Earlier in the game, he got into a shoving match with Shawn Thornton around the goal. Add in the fight, and he definitely made people remember his name out there.

Some people are asking whether or not he punched his way to free agency last night. I think it's quite the opposite. He played balls to the wall and his effort will stay in the management's memory. This is the Boston Bruins after all, and not some fannybandit team like the Wings.

Pick his spot? He's fought the "toughest" that the Habs have had to offer...granted that's not saying much.

Sounds like it was Robins that went after McQuaid. So how did "lonewolf" pick his spot?

Wildest series of punches I think I've ever seen only really connected with the last and did more to push Quaider over than knock him down.

Didn't look like much of a fight to me, at least on McQuaids part, probably for the reasons you mentioned and more.

Unfortunately for people on this board, due to his concussion issues, McQuaid may have to scale back his fisticuffs. We've seen it happen before with a lot of tough players. He seemed to start that a bit last season....

McQuaid is a good tough PEI boy, he's not going to back down from anyone out there, even after his tough injury/surgery. I wasn't surprised to see him dropping the gloves out there, it's what got him to the show in the first place.

No doubt. I love his style of play. It just seemed an unnecessary risk for a guy who seems to be very much liked by the coaching staff and has evolved into a pretty reliable dman.

Especially with Aaron Johnson your number 7. As a Blue Jackets fan, trust me, you'd rather have McQuaid than Johnson.

McQuaid has only been recently cleared for contact after his blood clot surgery, so it is a good sign seeing him get in a scrap.
