Perfect.
Konopka loves Phaneuf. He's always playing with his face, tugging at his jersey, he gives him little hacks with his stick now and then, wiggles his mitts at em', he's always saying something to him. Hopefully, Orr is healthy this year, I know he's playful. How is Phaneuf supposed to play with Konopka coming to say hello, every time he's on the ice? |

Also, Lessard played more than 1/4 of the season in Ottawa, why wouldn't he be back this year? And why the **** wouldn't Carkner be dressed? Are you telling me the Sens have the ability to put out the toughest line in the NHL Neil-Konopka-Lessard, and they're gonna roll with Neil-Konopka as their #1 and 2 instead? **** that.

As far as Carkner, they've got a bunch of young defencemen coming up, he's going to have to fight for his job in camp. On the other hand injuries are always a factor so he could easily spend half the season up in the big club. In a perfect world they'd trade Kuba which would give Carkner a spot. Also, in my perfect world they'd keep all this toughness for a couple of rebuilding seasons and sell tickets based on tough play instead of, you know, scoring goals and winning games. Kind of a bizzarro-world mirror of the Pizza Line Senators with President's Trophies and no team toughness. Too bad I'm not management or on the coaching staff. Also, I can't believe they got Konopka for so little money. I say if he fits in at all they should try to get him signed midseason for another year or 3. |

Really nothing to dislike about signing Konopka.

You are probably right. Gryba, Borowiecki and Wiercioch may even be ahead of Carkner at this point. His future hinges on whether they can find a sucker to take Kuba, and how many rookies they are comfortable with in the lineup simultaneously. I do not like his chances.
