Zac Rinaldo Suspended Two Games

...Single-handedly, Brendan Shanahan has turned the NHL into a COMPLETE JOKE. The hit by Rinaldo is NOTHING out of the ordinary and CERTAINLY warrants NO fine, suspension or subsequent disciplinary action.
Rinaldo's skates are ON the ice at the moment of contact -- and not "CLEARLY OFF THE ICE" as stated by the illustrious Moron of Player Safety. ( someone in his office should have pointed this out to him - I'm sure they looked at the tape enough times. )

His CRUSADE at "cleaning-up" the League ONLY serves to ELIMINATE any and all physical play.
It's TOTALLY asinine to have penalties that are labeled as minor OR major, anymore --- ( When both infractions have follow-up punishments added to them -- they can ONLY be one or the other )

His explanation for a player's height being factored into the hit is laughable as well -- if that's the case, then Zdeno Chara should NOT be allowed to hit anyone because he'd be flagged for "targeting the head" everytime.

Wow, did I pick the wrong year to pick up the Center Ice package. Most games aren't even watchable anymore and when there finally is a little emotion showed in a game, the next day you hear about a fine or suspension.

This suspension is one of the worst I've seen this season. Shanahan even admits that Ericsson shouldn't be watching his pass, but still suspends Rinaldo for "launching" himself?

This is getting beyond sickening.

looked like shoulder to me, and common sense would have been Ericsson not admiring his pass, and looking out for the hit.

I'm usually the first one to call for a suspension but c'mon Shanahan, is your goal to end good hockey? So for he's doing quite the job of that. Unacceptable ridiculousness, Rinaldo is just going to give up hitting it seems.

Ericsson was admiring his pass,but the hit was a little late and he jumped. You cant jump into a hit anymore. I feel bad for this kid,he gets scrutinized way more than anyone else. It may be a joke to a lot of you,but that's the way it is.

Awful decision by the league, but I can't say I'm surprised since they just fined him a couple of times a few days ago. Rinaldo did appear to leave his feet, not by a lot, prior to making contact with Ericsson. Didn't look like he targeted the head, even if he had an upward trajectory. No injury suffered on the play. I just don't see the big deal. It should have been 2 minutes for charing and that be the end of it.

So Shanny said - Ericsson is 5" taller the Rinaldo.

in my mind Rinaldo is just jumping up to have square contact shoulder pad to shoulder pad...
what is he supposed to do...run his head into Ericsson shoulder pad?

2 games seems a bit stiff when you consider last thurs., B's thug Lucic cross checked thug Kaleta in the back of the head while Kaleta was on his knees and the League did a big fat dick.... But, then again that was Bostin, not Philly!

That hit was outstanding. Period. As another poster said, rinaldo hit too hard...

you shouldnt / never used to get suspended for every penalty you take. If thats a charge,its a charge, and thats it.
