Zac Rinaldo Fined $5,000 for Two Incidents

NEW YORK - Philadelphia Flyers center Zac Rinaldo has been fined a total of $5,000 as a result of two separate incidents during NHL Game No. 768 against the New Jersey Devils Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

Rinaldo was fined $2,500, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for his late hit on Devils center Jacob Josefson at 12:51 of the second period. Rinaldo received a minor penalty for interference.

Rinaldo also was fined the maximum $2,500 for his dangerous trip of Devils left wing Zach Parise after the whistle at 11:38 of the third period. No penalty was assessed on the play.

The fine money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

I thought the slew foot was cheap, but not really suspension worthy. Still haven't seen the hit on Josefson.

At least $5,000 will actually have some impact on him given that he's young and is making probably the league minimum (or close to it).

I'm glad he wasn't suspended only because of the Rangers-Flyers matchup tomorrow. I wonder if he will even play. That slew foot was very cheap.

Good call, finally a punishment handed down by the front office we can all accept. The "slewfoot" was not suspension worth IMO, the hit shouldn't have been even discussed but 5k for a slewfoot is fine.

I personally think the league is severely missing alot of the after-whistle shenanigans.

He's a filing 4th line energy guy. He can skate and hits like freight train. He's clearl not the best fighter. More than willing.
