Wow.
That's ridiculous. Didn't Holland and company keep raving about Downey all throughout the preseason? Didn't they? And now, one game into the season, Downey gets waived. He didn't even get to play in their season opener either. What the hell is up with that? Doesn't make any sense whatsoever, but it IS Detroit.... The Red Wings are stupid. Why can't their carry a fighter for crying out loud? Weakest team I have ever seen. Unbelievable I tell you. Congratulations to the Panthers and Oilers - you are now no longer tied as the two weakest teams in the league. The Panthers held that title for one game, and the Oilers decided to join them earlier today after sending down Jacques, but the Red Wings decided that they couldn't live without owning that title, so they waived Downey, and they now have it back. Year after year Detroit continues to be the weakest team in the league. Amazing. I saw this coming though. It happened with Brad Norton last year, and it happened with Downey this year. Detroit keeps a heavyweight on their roster to start the season just to get our hopes up, but then they just get rid of them right away. 'F' the Red Wings. What a joke. Hopefully another team that could use toughness picks Downey up though.
