Wings offer Aaron Downey a Tryout!
Per the NHLWORD on Twitter.

This would be great if he could make the Griffins, then come up on a 2 way for the big boys. One of my all time favorite fighters.

I'm trying to maintain hope while keeping a healthy amount of skepticism. Who knows? Maybe Holland finally came to his senses after all the injuries last year.

Grand Rapids could do with another fighter...but Im genuinely shocked about this. One because Babcock has managed to push Holland again to looking at an enforcer and also because its Aaron Downey. I love the guy but he'll be 36 when the season starts...then again Brad May showed us all last year that age can be no issue.

Two way for Detroit means one way to Grand Rapids, I still doubt the Wings have a fighter.

Weird that he gets a tryout having not played since preseason of last year, I thought he was done. Hopefully he makes the Wings and gets in 50+ games next year, but lets not get too optimistic.

If Detroit doesn't sign Modano, and Downey is offered a contract, Downey will be on Detroit. Only because Detroit is bound to have a ****load of injuries.
