Also, I see he was born on 4/20. Interesting....

he also just came back from a serious knee injury...plus he plays defense. just because he was drafted 10th overall, doesn't mean **** when it comes to coming along in development. he lost a bunch of time with his knee plus not all players come along at the same rate. hell, some don't even come along at all and disappear (sasha pokulok)

I really don't get this move for the Wild. We need defenseman! We already have Kassian on the roster to take care of the big boys, and throw his weight around. Play Kassian, and trade Rupp for an NHL defenseman, while he still has value. As far as sending Kass to Houston, he would need to clear waivers since he is on a one way, and I don't see him going unclaimed. The only way this trade doesn't piss me off, is the extremely slim chance that they keep all three. A fourth line of Konopka centering Kassian and Rupp would be brutal!

Stoked as a Wild fan. Powe is a OK at the PK and a 4th line grinder. Wild look stacked for toughness with Rupp, Konopka and Stoner. I don't think Kassian has played this year. Stange trade to be honest.

Put Kass on waivers and watch the Rangers claim him

At least, I hope they don't risk him to waivers.
I think they trade him. Ottawa? Boston maybe depending how long Thornton is out. I don't think they want Lucic fighting all that much and not sure if MacDermid is a heavyweight.

I think Rupp is a used puck bag.

This is an odd trade though, Rupp might have been in Tort's doghouse, that's not unusual at all.

Asham and Bickel are pretty good but at least Rupp was a heavyweight.

Kassian is on a one way contract right? Does that mean that he's done in Minnesota now?

I agree 100% rangers need a heavy maybe a call up soon? Rupp was good but hes slow and not an energy guy. He did stick up for teammates. Good guy

I'd like to see these lines.

Hagelin-Richards-Gaborik
Pyatt-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Boyle-Callahan
Mashinter-Powe-Asham

Bickel in as the 6th defenseman against tough teams.
Yeah i think halpern ends up being the odd man out. I think we'll see another move

Well that's unexpected.... So now... who on the Rangers is going to battle with the likes of Orr / Thornton / Sestito's of the league ? Asham ?? Bickell ?? Not bloody likely! I respect those guys alot, but they are not HW material by any means.

In the meantime we have team Minnesota, with one of the top HW in the league in Kassian who STILL continues to sit?????? now... is virtually the odd man out with Rupp and Konopka manning the wings just leaves a guy scratching his head on this deal.

Will Vancouver be knocking on Minnesota's door in acquiring his big bro ? He's defietley going on the waiver wire soon or traded since he has a one-way but to whom ?? You can't all agree he's going to sit all year popping pop corn for the guys between intermissons and filling the gatorade jug!!

That's what I'm waiting for. Trade for a guy that is a marginal improvement in playing ability, but is seven years older, and nowhere near as much of a force with the gloves off? If they get rid of Kassian in favor of Rupp I'll be livid. Nothing against Rupp, it's just that this makes no sense to me. Kass looked good last year, as well as intrasquad scrimmages this year, yet he can't get a game over Mitchell who is a complete waste of space?!
Has Rupp been playing center this year, or is he being used on a wing?

Another very stupid trade. Rupp hasn't been all that impressive this year, but who fills his role then? They better bring up mashinter/Haley.

Still doubt McIlrath will be called up at all this year. You want interesting look at his record. 40-4-8
not too shabby
