SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed free agent RW Branko Radivojevic (pronounced BRAN-koh, ra-dih-Vol-uh-vihch) to a contract and re-signed left wing Derek Boogaard (pronounced BOO-gard) to a contract.
Radivojevic, 25 (11/24/80), collected 14 points (8-6=14) and 44 penalty minutes (PIM) in 64 games with the Philadelphia Flyers last season. He was originally selected by Colorado in the third round (93rd overall) of the 1999 Entry Draft. Radivojevic has notched 79 points (34-45=79) and 183 PIM in 238 career NHL contests during five seasons with Phoenix and Philadelphia. Boogaard, 24 (6/23/82), collected six points (2-4=6) and recorded a team-high 158 penalty minutes (PIM) in 65 games during his rookie season with Minnesota in 2005-06. He ranked 12th in the NHL and first among rookies in PIM. The 6-foot-7, 250-pound forward made his NHL debut in the Wild’s season opener vs. Calgary on October 5, collected his first NHL point with an assist vs. Vancouver on October 14 and scored his first NHL goal (game-winner) vs. San Jose on October 19. Branko seems to be a good fit on the Wild.

Good on Minny to resign Boogey! With Laraque gone and Vancouver becoming softer, Boogaard must be licking his chops, lol - a Reign of Terror in the NW division!
Hopefully Lemaire's thinking that way, and not that it will be unnecessary to dress Boogey. What do you guys think; will Lemaire take advantage? |

Who the hell is he going to fight now?
Wade Brookbank, Matt Greene, Darren McCarty, and whoever else the Avs have? Yay... |

I'm also disappointed that there is no exciting competition for us to look forward too, but would you rather Boogey not resign with Minny?! I guess I'm trying to look on the bright side once in a while. My main point is that toughness imbalances can make for some craziness. |

I cant wait to see how much he improves this upcoming season. Lemaire gave him a specific workout, things to improve and everything, and Boogie deffinately has the determination to improve as he's shown in the past. All he has to do is repeate his camp from last year, and he'll stay in the NHL. |

I had a feeling this was going to happen after Clarke overloaded our team with dime-store wingers.
