Wild Reduce Roster to 32 Players

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reduced its training camp roster to 32.

The Wild assigned the following players to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL):
G Wade Dubielewicz
G Anton Khudobin
D Justin Falk
LW Petr Kalus
RW Jon DiSalvatore
RW Duncan Milroy

The Wild also assigned the following player to the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL):
D Tyler Cuma

None of it is shocking.

The only shocking part is if Kalus actually reports to Houston, or if he throws another bitch fit and demands to leave again.

I'm a little surprised Kassian has made it this far, they must like him. I wouldn't be surprised to see him up in the reg. season once Boogey's back gives out again.

I wouldn't either.

Boogs is already dinged up, so Kass staying up isn't shocking.

With the team actively shopping Derek in the offseason, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kass get a long look in camp, before finally getting sent down.

In all honesty, I'd rather see Kass stay up, and Weller get sent down.. wishful thinking though.

Am i wrong, or does Kassian actually have a shot to start up with us? The guy is only 22 if im not mistaking, and his skating by all accounts has improved drastically. After seeing him in the Chicago game, he seems to have an understanding of what hes on the ice to do.

I doubt, unless Boogey is supposed to be out for a while, that Kassian would start the season with the Wild.

Especially since John Scott got the nod last year first.

Injuries forced little John into the lineup before anything.

With Kass, he can legitimately steal Craig Weller's spot...

since kass is still around, him, boogey, and scott will have to fight it out in order to determine who gets to fight cote next week in phillly

IMO, I'd take Kass over John Scott and Craig Weller - in fighting regards.

I'd definitely take him over Weller on the forward standpoint. Its not like Weller can hit all that well, and he definitely isn't there to score goals. Kass, in the Hawks game at least was able to show some sandpaper on the walls and show some physical play.

im assuming its cheap to ditch weller and keep kass?

Only by $200K at the most. Money, IMO, would have little to do with the decision.

Weller doing nothing but getting knocked out by Sheldon Souray last year might have a bit more to do with things.
