Wild Recall Cody Almond

"Almond, 21 (7/24/89), has skated in four games in two separate recalls with Minnesota this season averaging 6:02 in TOI/game. He has posted 23 points (11-12=23) in 43 games for the Aeros. Almond leads Houston with seven power-play goals, ranks second in goals and penalty minutes (82) and is fourth in scoring. The 6-foot-2, 217-pound native of Calgary, Alta, scored one goal in seven games for the Wild last season as a rookie. Almond was originally selected by Minnesota in the fifth round (No. 140 overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He wears No. 27 with the Wild."

At least he fights, so I hope he plays well. Apparently Matt Kassian was a runner up, but Richards thinks Staubitz can handle the fighting for the team, which is ironic due to the fact Richards admitted he has a leash on Staubitz.

HOUSTON --- Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled center Cody Almond from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Almond, 21 (7/24/89), has skated in four games in two separate recalls with Minnesota this season averaging 6:02 in TOI/game. He has posted 23 points (11-12-23) in 43 games for the Aeros. Almond leads Houston with seven power-play goals, ranks second in goals and penalty minutes (82) and is fourth in scoring.

Highlights this season include scoring the shootout-winner vs. Texas on Dec. 26, a two-goal game on Dec. 17 at Manitoba and an overtime game-winner at Texas on Dec. 4.Almond also scored the game-tying goal and had two assists Dec. 2 vs. Rockford. He has notched four multi-point games for the Aeros this season.

The 6-foot-2, 217-pound native of Calgary, Alta, scored one goal in seven games for the Wild last season as a rookie. Almond was originally selected by Minnesota in the fifth round (No. 140 overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He wears No. 27 with the Wild.

Kassian is closer and closer to being up with the club. He is playing, and fighting, very well with Houston. Brad Staubitz had, essentially, the game of his life last night and prolonged things. I really wish they'd bring Kass up and have both him and Stauby in the lineup together...

With Almond, it's another plug on a team full of plugs...
